I’d personally recommend a Hi-Point, because despite their reputation, they’re a cheap and reliable firearm. The 3D-printing community has had a lot of success with printing frames for them, hence the recommendation.
 
Still sucks that you have to pay $200 extra dollars to protect your hearing though. I can own a suppressor for any gun ever manufactured, and the police here won’t give two shits.

Yep. I mean Glocks are great and all (especially since you can put auto sears in them), but a cheap and reliable handgun isn’t something to scoff at.

I always thought Glocks perfectly filled the “Cheap reliable handgun” definition perfectly. Nothing is better for the price imo.

depends on the user, they are great as a general handgun, but people have their preferences.

I love revolvers too much. Honestly the only semi auto handguns I’m interested in are a 1911 in its normal .45 acp, the new Rugar 57, The CZ P09, aaaand a Deagle.  
The deag, because why the hell not?

I only have 2 handguns. A Glock 17 and FN Five-seveN. All my other stuff is rifles and shotguns.

I can see why you’d describe a Glock as an affordable handgun. What are they like to shoot?

Very low recoil and surprisingly loud. Carrying it is also nicer than I would have thought thanks to how light it is. despite being larger than the Glock, it’s much lighter and won’t pull on your belt much at all especially in a CCW configuration.

That’s good to hear, though I’d probably still fit a suppressor to it if I got one, as I care about my hearing (or what’s left of it). Surprised you could get one in Cali, since the state government has a major stick up its ass about “cop-killer” ammunition, or so I thought.
 
Here they’re just as difficult to get as any other pistol.

They’re not very common here, but obviously yeah you can get them and the 5.7x28mm ammo. Can’t buy the dedicated armor penetrating rounds in this state though. You can in most other states.

Pretty sure the dedicated AP 5.7 ammo is restricted nationwide only to Gov and law enforcement.

It shouldn’t be. You can buy 50BMG Armor Piercing Incendiary rounds.

Weird, apparently there’s a civilian variant of the LEO/Mil AP rounds that’s similar but with a steel penetrator and lead core. Don’t know a ton about that though, all AP ammo is illegal here in CA

I’ve heard the CZ P-10 series is great. They’re basically Glocks with better ergonomics and triggers.

And its MSRP is $500. Unfortunately, it’s not common for me to see any CZ handgun in my area.

$500 seems reasonable for a quality pistol.
 
I’m curious to try out some guns at a store after this pandemic blows over. If I do buy a gun, there is a range literally 5 minutes up the street from my house.

I guess my surplus CZ-52 counts as a CZ pistol. It’s a neat gun, if a bit of a brick.
 
I keep telling myself I’m going to check out a newer CZ pistol one of these days, but then I get distracted and start eyeing AK variants.

That, and it looks like our boy Cody Wilson has plans for additive-manufacturing P90s. That’s the SBR version, not the 16” barrel one.
