That’s because they present things in a way that makes it feel natural. As opposed to the “in your face” about it blatant tokenization approach Western media tends to take. Abominations that fixate too much on that irrelevant detail and shit characterizations that feel more like an attack on the audience coaxing them to “like and accept” them in an obnoxious manner.
Anime characterizations and appearance that make them endearing to the audiences also help the case.

That’s because they don’t really out much focus in it. If it happens, it happens. That’s how these topics work in anime/manga.

Gender ambiguous androgenous characters are not new in anime. Take Chevalier d’eon, Astolfo (a trap) and Enkidu from Fate for example.
And those characters tend to fall flat for using their identity as some sort of universal Crux for everything. Shoving irrelevant out of place IRL issues into shows is of poor taste.

Stars Align was made by Eight Bit, they’re fully booked for the year.
If you’re talking about Stars Align getting its runtime cut in half, that’s not that show’s fault. The decision was made long before it was aired. It was flat-out corporate betrayal, completely out of the creators’ hands.
Plus, that episode that shot is from was fucking fantastic. One of the best, most sympathetic depictions of transgenderism and non-binaryism in any anime. Source: Me, guy who watched it.

I just finished watching episode 3 of Nisekoi season 2. Chitoge’s mom might be one of the biggest assholes in all of anime.

It does make Chitoge extremely sympathetic, though, in my opinion. I like that Chitoge’s mom is an asshole. It makes Chitoge more likable. Maybe Chitoge’s mom will redeem herself, I don’t know. But having just watched episode 3, man. She is an asshole.

Yeah. Really understandable. You could really get the feel the series was starting to be a bit much during the end of season 3. Where the videos were taking months/year to come out. And then you watch their “Making of” videos and see just how much freaking work was being done for literally every frame of each episode.
