Another Fangan Lore Concept

Seven Day Killings (Ultra Danganronpa Crimson: Oceanic Decimate Lore Concept)

Bio: The Seven Day Killings, or simply named the One Week Massacre, is a known tragic event that occured at Hope’s Peak International Academy. Seven students attending the school were kidnapped and murdered by a teenage serial killer who was “despair-inflicted”, these seven victims were of Spaniard, Emirati, Kazakhstani, South African, Icelandic, Vietnamiese, and Fillipino origins respectively. These victims were killed about a day apart, but the way they were killed seemed to be different, but they had one thing in common, all were tortured to an extreme degree. Whip marks were found all over the victim’s corpse, as well as burn marks. Some of the corpses have stab wounds, while a few have bullet wounds, giving the illusion that multiple killers were involved. Investigations to identify the killer always come to dead ends as evidence leading back to the killer is either lost forever or completely destroyed, making the killer getting away with the “perfect murders.” A rumor started circulating that the killer is a Class 67-A student of Hope’s Peak International Academy, fearing this; the school has no choice but to cover up, saying that “all students were expelled”. This in turn caused international outrage, many claiming the school is covering up a crime and protecting a serial killer; unbeknownst to the world, it’s one of the many wheels set in motion to bring the world into despair. However, there was another rumor the despair-inflicted victim was a Class 67-A Student that may have been brainwashed by the mastermind behind The Tragedy, that mastermind being Junko Enoshima herself, but she was not alone in this, as another Class 67-A was likely involved in the nefarious scheme; more so assisting Junko.

@NitroFury
If you ever write a fic or something based on this, lemme know. I’d be interested in reading something like that.

Anyway, just popping in to say that the games are 60% off on PSN (with the exception of Ultra Despair Girls) and Steam (all games). In the off chance that anyone lurking wants to pick them up right now and either doesn’t have a Switch or doesn’t feel like waiting for that port or whatever, now’s the time.

I’ve been meaning to pick it up Ultra Despair Girls but, knowing Steam, I’d be hit with Himiko’s “everything you buy goes on sale the next day” curse.

The planning is going great, but the difficulty is how I execute it (pun intended). Cause creating something like this requires some sort of help.

Ultra Danganronpa Crimson: Oceanic Decimate Killing Game Setting

The Killing Game takes place in a Mall/Shopping Center surrounded by a large city with an 80s Vaporwave Aesthetic, the skybox can be seen through the mall’s skyroof; the day and night cycles is reflected by this by having the blue sky yellow neon sun Vaporwave of Daytime, to the purple sky orange-pink gradient sun Outrun of Nighttime, implying this is in a VR Setting. The Mall is called “Monokuma’s Mall of the Future” and it’s a three-level building with different sections, most of them can be accessed. Since it’s in a mall, advertisements will be sparse across the entire mall, most will feature Monokuma in some way. The soda and snack vending machine are also sparse, and also display Monokuma’s face on the sides; all will be restocked every morning. The clothing store will serve as a dormitory for the 16 Students, each will have individual dorms of their own, some mall spaces will serve as Research Labs for each of the 16 students and the talents based around them; however each will be located at different parts of the mall. Once a Class Trial is about to begin, all surviving students will head to a dead end part of the mall, which is where the elevator is located hidden behind a fountain. All surviving students will be taken to Class Trial Grounds, the Trial Grounds in question has the 80s style Cyberpunk Aesthetic. This will continue on until the final Class Trial before graduation.

A mall setting could actually be a pretty interesting change of pace. I like the integration of former students’ talents with their stores. Especially since it serves as another clue that it’s likely VR since you know the characters didn’t go into business. It’s also kind of funny to me how even if Toko did have a bookstore, there’s no way she’d stock comics or manga. I like to imagine Monokuma/the mastermind would intentionally do things like that just amuse themselves by disrespecting their previous victims. I could even see him doing things like using irony to give people shops they wouldn’t go into in the first place. Like if there was a food court with a fast food joint called Byakuya Burger. Although that would actually fit the Ultimate Imposter so it could double as an homage to him while also trolling the real Byakuya.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot the reason I came back to this thread in the first place. I’ve been playing Ultra Despair Girls and man, I didn’t expect it to be this depressing. I’m pretty sure I’m close to the end of chapter 3. I’m still reeling from the beginning of the chapter when Kotoko got her PTSD flashbacks. Something tells me Monaca didn’t actually forget Kotoko’s trigger word and intentionally used it because she’s a sociopath.

I beat Ultra Despair Girls last night.

I wasn’t a fan of Komaru at first. Luckily her character development kicked in and now I like her a lot. She was also probably the most fitting main character they could have picked, given how many people related to people from the first game you run into. RIP Yuta and Taichi.

I was thinking about why it’s so much darker than the main game. Yeah, having messed up things happen to kids is part of it, but I think another part is that this time you’re actually seeing part of the Tragedy play out as opposed to just seeing a few still images from somewhere far away from wherever you are.

My only real complaint is that some of the 3D cutscenes had kind of stiff animation that felt a bit off. And maybe there was a place or two that could have benefited from another save spot but that was probably just to make going for an A rank harder. If I want to really nitpick, the Steam version that I played had some weird hard-to-describe graphical hiccups on loading screens and the save menu I probably could have fixed but put up with. And then to really nitpick the ghost scene was kinda dumb. I mean, it was funny but thanks to paranormal stuff actually being in the game, Yasuhiro’s burger story actually seems credible now and I don’t know how to feel about that.

I actually liked the Warriors of Hope even though a lot of people didn’t seem to. Like, yeah, what they did was awful but it’s not hard to understand why they did it. The only characters I didn’t particularly care for were Kurokuma and Haiji. Like, I tried to give him a chance just because I knew he was a character a lot of people don’t like but when he talked about the kind of girls he liked and seeing how abusive he was to Monaca, making you wonder if he’s part of the reason she turned out the way she did it became hard to like him.

Now I’m hoping that poster early on in V3 for Ultra Despair Girls 2 isn’t just there to troll us.

Any of the other 2 people here been playing Ultimate Summer Camp?
I was expecting the Tower of Despair mentioned in the trailer would be more like the dungeon crawly RPG from V3’s postgame. Instead, it’s just nothing but battles, which is kind of lame. It would have also been nice to see more variety in development mode, like how you could select and jump between boards in the version in V3. The cynical side of me wonders if they deliberately made it more monotonous and an even bigger grind to unlock everything just to get you to shell out on microtransactions.
On the bright side, it’s still nice seeing more character interactions and revisiting Jabberwock Island. And even though I did criticize some aspects of the board game, there are also things it does better this time around like having combat, shops, more variety in cards, and you have to be more strategic with your decision making, even if it is still pretty luck based.
While I do tend to be a completionist, this isn’t the kind of grind I can see myself sitting through for hours at a time. Definitely going to be a more “play it a bit here and there” kind of game for me.

I still need to watch the anime, myself. I have a hunch what you might be talking about since I did get a couple things spoiled that happened in it but I’m not going to guess in case it’s wrong.
Hope you enjoy V3 when you play it. It probably has my favorite cast out of the entire series, both in terms of the characters as individuals and in terms of how they play off of one another.

I currently just started it, no characters stick out to me as my favorites, yet.
There is one character I can tell that is going to be the murder on the spot, due to the previous two games having something similar.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it. But, yeah, that part was kind of exhausting.
@The Equestrian Zodiac
Good selection of girls. All that’s missing is Ibuki. And maybe Komaru for some Ultra Despair Girls representation.
But I would like to formally welcome you to Club Himiko. Side note: at first I didn’t like Tenko but I can at least understand her simping for the magic loli.
