What’s happenin’? I was going to make split pea soup today, but I forgot to soak the peas, so we’re eating out. My fiancé’s birthday is tomorrow and we’ll probably have it then if we’re still hungry.

Here is an interesting crop to experiment with.  
Jerusalem Artichokes or Sunchokes  
Easy to grow and potato-like, but without too much starch and full of inulin. So it’s good for diabetics.
 
No, it has nothing to do with the Holy Land nor is it even related to the true artichokes at all.

Does anyone know a decent replacement for wine in a pasta sauce?

Try Balsamic Vinegar.  
hmmmmm…. I wonder what soy sauce would be like as a substitute?

I don’t know much about pasta sauce. I usually just open a can of Ragu and then add my meat, mushrooms, peas, and onions into the mix.  
Why wouldn’t you want wine? If you don’t mind….

I’m not married yet, but I have been busy. We’re taking care of the marriage license right now. I’m still not entirely settled, but we finally have everything in the house. My future mother-in-law was here until yesterday and I’m still so exhausted, that my fiancé needs to help me out of bed in the morning and make sure I don’t topple over. Between sleeping, grocery shopping, doing laundry, filling out papers, cooking, video calling my relatives and doing vacation type things with my fiancé’s mother, I haven’t had many opportunities to just browse the web and check out my usual daily stuff.  
I’ll be doing a bunch of cleaning today and make an avocado salad. If that isn’t filling enough, there are still leftovers in the fridge and freezer. Since I got here I’ve made fried rice with broccoli and tofu, split pea soup and a homemade yellow curry with spinach, potatoes, tomatoes, carrot slices and peas, wrapped in a tortilla with non-dairy mozzarella style shreds on top.  
We also went to a restaurant called Chan’s Thai Kitchen and it was awful.

She’s very kind. She was here for a week and arrived not long before I did. Though it was nice to have her here, it’s good we can resume our normal lives now.
