Yeah, Disney isn’t forcing diversity changes onto their characters or whatever.

Although I did read a while back that the one thing Disney is pushing for is making their main characters younger? Like, AFAIK there was an interview with Amphibia’s creator Matt Braly where he said he wanted to make the protagonist a 15/16 year old teen, but Disney forced him to age her down to 12-13 so she could be relatable for the tween demographic, and that this was something common for all their shows.

Now I don’t know if that’s true or if he was making that up, but that seems far more questionable to me.

I did here he wanted Anne to be in her mid-late teens but was forced to make her younger, but idk if it’s a “madidate” or not at Disney at all their cartoon protags need to be younger now

Also sort of related but does every Disney cartoon protag needto get a super mode now or something?

Stat Butterfly had one, Luz had one, Anne had one, Molly McGee has one…

It’s to get a certain demographic, after a certain age younger viewers tend away from linier media and towards let’s plays theory crafting ect, so tvshows try to stick more towards the 12 and under crowed,

So it’s to be more relatable to their demographic or something, got it. I’m assuming that’s also why April O’Neil, who’d been an adult in all TMNT media before 2012, has been a kid in the latest shows.

I never really got that, TBH. Maybe it’s just because of my inherent differences with my disability and everything, but as a kid, I never found characters my age (or even of my gender) more or less relatable than characters who were older than me. Gargoyles was one of my favorite shows back then, the main characters in that one were an adult woman and a bunch of non-human characters. I related to them way more than the kids on the shows that were airing.
