So in the Invader Zim episode “Planet Jackers”, Zim describes an alien race whose home planet orbits a dying sun, that they keep alive by throwing other planets and moons into it like firewood.

What I want to know is, if they have the tech to move entire planets with no visible disturbance to the planets themselves, why don’t they just move their own planet to a less time sensitive sun’s orbit?

We’re talking about a series where the titular character’s race’s hierarchy is determined by their height, where humans are legit the dumbest people in existence, and where martians overworked themselves into extinction converting Mars into a spaceship because - and I quote - “It was cool”.

An intersection between possible sentimentality towards one’s home star and apathetic sadism towards other species is one of the more understandable motivations in the series.

Pretty much this. The Invader Zim universe is one in which Darwinism sits in a corner and cries in futile frustration.

Hell, The canon movie “Enter the Florpus” ends with the Irken armada driving directly into the titular Florpus because their leaders refused to deviate from flying in a straight line.

Family Guy did a Jojo reference.

For a brief moment Family Guy was cool again.

I’ve seen commenters rag on that ending because it’s not accurate enough (The scene should’ve paused before the RPG hit Brian), however I think it would’ve worked either way. They used a color filter, Roundabout, and the ‘To Be Continued’ arrow so I’m good with that. A-/B+ for effort.

Geez. I’m not entirely surprised, though. Ross Bagdasarian Jr. has been managing the group since 1981, and he’s in his 70s now. I can see why he’d want someone else to take over.

Considering all the clips I’ve seen are legitimately pretty bad, I’d say it’s actual ratings. Didn’t Crunchyroll lie about donations to get the budget for this? If that’s true there may be some angry anime fans bombing it, but I don’t think that would be a big enough percentage to bring the score down in any meaningful way.

At least Onyx Equinox wasn’t bashed for not being anime, since like HGS, that is an Anime-ish cartoon as well.

I still feel bad for the creator, if the cast and crew moved the show to VRV or any other platform because anime fans hate cartoons (design-wise), (or if they didn’t flex on the whole D-word thing) this wouldn’t happen and then Vic Mignogna would still work today. And then I wouldn’t see hypocrisy of people liking the Owl House for the same thing HGS gets hated for.

A 1-star review: Animation is stilted, voice acting is abysmal at best, story is all over the place. WTF?

Owl House is good though.

Huh. Never heard of this one. I imagine there’s far less hype around this one, and while there’s definite anime influence, it doesn’t look like it’s trying as hard as HGS to be a faux anime. It kinda looks like a cross between Avatar and Atlantis.

I just figured shows now explore LGBT relationships because it’s relatively unexplored territory.

I dunno if I’d consider it straight per se. Eda is maybe bi, but who knows.
Owl House features several LGBT characters but the nice thing is that their gender identity and sexuality aren’t the focus. The show is still mainly a fantasy comedy.

You can still be in a straight/gay relationship with someone who is non-binary. A straight person can still be interested in a NB person, and someone who is NB can still be in love with someone who considers themselves straight.

And So far i don’t think anyone has said what Eda’s sexuality is (though if i remember right there was the bi-pride flag colors on her lunchbox in one of the episodes so that seems to imply that she is bi)

Thanks for the information.

Although the reason why I brought TOH to this HGS hullabaloo is because of the Trans representation thingy and magical girl genre thingy. Why? Because I heard the representation in the latter is hamfisted and yet in the former it’s not because I thought NB is trans and even if it was Terrace made it kinda subtle so she can say fuck politics without saying it.
