I haven’t seen Santa Inc, but why do you think Sausage Party was praised when Santa Inc has been critically panned? Is it because at the time of Sausage Party’s release, raunchy adult animated comedies was still relatively fresh and nowadays, it feels like every animated thing is a raunchy adult comedy?
I don’t remember it getting much praise outside journalists maybe. I remember hearing it was pretty much the same schlock Seth Rogan does in pretty much every movie. He plays the lead, stupid humor, “DUDE WEED LMAO” fin.

I think Santa Inc is panned for its tired themes and ‘lashing-out’ style of non humor with a sloppy-applied Christmas coat of paint than any market trends.Sausage party is just stupid shit from start to finish and doesn’t have the brains to be pretentious.
From what I’ve seen, it’s trying to be “edgy” in CURRENT YEAR Which is tantamount impossible and just comes off as preachy witch modern day talking points and for a group of SUPER PROGRESSIVES I’ve heard that it’s pretty heavy-handed, like all the reindeers are just black stereotypes. Which when you look who the writers are; Kinda gives off a bit of a thonk.

And I’ve seen a lot of people use that as an excuse to say a lot of negative shit with impunity, even a few use it to insult people they don’t like. You can never have total acceptance and trying to force that will only make matters worse. I’ve even seen people be polite and treated like dog shit, I’m not surprise he’d have such views the way some people act.

Even trying to say Neurodivergent to make it sound less which I have to be pretty dangerous since it IS and will always BE a mental illness even not matter what bow you try to wrap it around. Ignoring that will cause more damage over time. Eventually that band-aid and lollipop isn’t going to fix the problems. It’s just going in the opposite direction from what happened in the old days.

I think some people throw an entire franchise or whatever under the bus when a creator is unliked, justly or not.
It’s just something that’s been bugging me. I kept seeing for awhile people rejecting Harry Potter, because JK Rowling was an idiot. It’s not fair to the thousands of other people who made those books and films the successes that they are.

It is very ironic that all the stuff she did post-story a ton cheered for when most of them never actually bought her books. They just loved her when she morally grandstanded in the right direction until. They constantly used the bad guy from that book to call people they didn’t like and now they’re so delusional they say she wasn’t even the writer.

Agreed, honestly. I’m not a fan of Harry Potter (in fact, I have some issues with it), but it’s kind of dumb to throw it all under the bus and act like you never liked it just because of what the creator has said since then. Although I am one who holds the now-controversial position of “separate the art from the artist.” So obviously, stop buying new Harry Potter books, but you can still enjoy it, you can still make and read fan works on it, because none of those are supporting J.K. Rowling since you aren’t paying her anything.

The continued existence of an evil house at Hogwarts, the fact that Dumbledore is an asshole who basically created his own nemesis and is never called out for it, and some unfortunate stereotyping (like the fact that the one Irish character in Hogwarts is primarily known for his spells blowing up–in a series set in the ’90s, like did nobody see how unfortunate that was?).
