Someone in a Discord server I’m in said that Charlie Magne from Hazbin Hotel is a better written version of Star Butterfly, and… I haven’t seen enough of Star vs. to know whether to agree or disagree.

By no means an exclusive stereotype.

A lot of cartoons and shows that we think of as for kids were never intended for kids.
 
The Flintstones, Looney Tunes, and The Muppets for example.

Well, that Tom and Jerry movie is coming out tomorrow, and I honestly don’t know how to feel about it. On one hand, the character designs look amazing in CGI, and the film seems like it’ll emulate the slapstick from the original cartoons very well. On the other hand however, there’s really no reason for it to take place in a live-action world, and it’s clear the film will not be above resorting to toilet humor (one of the trailers has Jerry pressing his butt up against a photo copier, while another one has Spike squatting down and taking a poop like a real dog).

I’d say Jerry playing with a copier machine like that would totally be in character for him, and it’s more suggestive than toilet humor. I don’t mind the movie being a hybrid. At least they’re keeping the characters looking toony, the duo are the main focus of the movie instead of being side-characters, and the movie is being made by a fan.

…Am I reading too much into this or is this the most obvious metaphor for hiding one’s sexuality in Pixar history?
 
Like, they get more colorful in a habitat where they feel free, set in a historically-devout religious country that would attack them if they knew, no doubt ending with a massive coming out party where the town learns to accept them and that the acceptance of their differences will make the world a better place?
