I'm not familar with the old series, (it was kinda before my time) but after researching it, I can understand why the reboot is disliked.
Plus some things like Triclops running a cult, and talking like a televangalist just look silly.

Some reboots can be good, some can be bad. I'm not against all reboots, as I loved the 2012 TMNT one, and of course MLP:FIM.
I even enjoyed the recent TMNT movies despite their flaws.
