Your life before Ponies

BrushieBrushie

Obsessively playing video games all the time. I still do that so nothing changed I guess? My best friend just came to me one day and wouldn’t stop talking about the new show with the colorful horses, so I got to watching it and hey, this is both entertaining and adorable, I enjoy such things!

MLP’s definately in my top 3, though Ed Edd n Eddy has still got seniority over it.

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

My life in the before times was a bleak dust-streaked wasteland unending until the ponies brought me light and joy.
I actually had to check my facebook archives because ponies have consumed me so utterly that I had difficulty remembering what came before. Apparently, I was really digging into Pokemon Black, Minecraft, and reading A Game of Thrones.

Well, first I was born. Then some other stuff up to about two years ago.
Other cartoons, Powerpuff Girls, Beavis & Butt-Head and Chowder, mostly. Read a lot of Deadpool and Bone and played the ever-living b’jesus out of Infamous.

>-What were you doing, watching, what was your favorite thing before you discovered FiM?

How much time?Like 1 minute before?
Then i’d say watching Inazuma Eleven, browsing Orkut
My favorite things were Dbz, Digimon, Inazuma 11 and Heroes.

>-Did you just accepted FiM and it’s fandom right from the start, or were you in denial/against it?

I believe one of the hardests part of my progress on the Fandom was to get inside it, i liked the show but i couldn’t stand bronies it all.
I also had some conflicts “If i clop to it i’ll be compared to these people i dislike for doing the same”

>-Did FiM became the top of the top of your favorite shows/other things, or are you still the biggest fan of something else?

Yeah, MLP must be my favorite cartoon aside with Spongebob, but there are some animes/tv shows i find it to be better than MLP.

>-has FiM and it’s fandom become very recurrent in your daily life?, or it hasn’t changed your daily life that much?

Absolutely, before that all i had on the internet were insults, threats and cyber bullying, with DP i made a plenty of great friends, i browse DP all day and i don’t feel like a lonely ghost flying through the internet anymore.
It also expanded the teachings that i first learned with Inazuma 11 that is to give life and people around me more value, be more positive, polite and friendly and each day more become a better person.

>-What were you doing, watching, what was your favorite thing before you discovered FiM?

I had been watching a good ammount of dexter over the summer and had generly been a summerfag. I was also just mindlessly going through memebase everyday. other than that i was just a regular high school kid, although a bit lonely sometimes.

>-Did you just accepted FiM and it’s fandom right from the start, or were you in denial/against it?

Well over the summer i had seen a small amount of pony stuff pop up, but i had completely overlooked the my little brony part of memebase.
When I got back to highschool i heard some of the guys in my class talk about MLP, so, like the nosy brat i am, i asked them what all that pony stuff was about. That was a Wednesday. During the next day i looked through mylittlebrony on memebase, and i was surprised to see that during just one month it had generated 70 pages of material. At Friday we had a back to school party, and i got to talk to another off my friends. It became obvious that he too was a brony. During the weekend I watched the episodes while skyping with my freind. After that i was hooked.

>-Did FiM became the top of the top of your favorite shows/other things, or are you still the biggest fan of something else?

this is certainly my biggest fandom. I did watch dexter and breaking bad before ponies, and still do, but never have i been into anything as much as this.

>-has FiM and it’s fandom become very recurrent in your daily life?, or it hasn’t changed your daily life that much?

very much redcurrant. I spend a few hours on the Internet every day, and ponies take up most of that time. The people that are my closest friends are all bronies ass well. That being said, i probably haven’t changed much, i just browse other sites.

AND TO ANYONE WONDERING; YES I HAVE PURGED MYSELF OF THE MEMEBASE PLAUGE

  1. I was a huge Sonicfag before ponies.

  2. I figured “Well, if it has this big a fanbase, it can’t be that bad”

  3. I think MLP is a great show based on what it is, it’s not my favorite.

  4. Yeah, MLP is one of my major fandoms now. That makes 3 hugely hated fandoms that I’m a part of.

I loved anime, Dragonball Z specifically. I had no reservations against watching Friendship is Magic, since I watched earlier generations as a little girl.

Regarding the MLP and the fandom, I didn’t have any prejudices or felt “queerish” (oh the wonders of being bi), so when I got around to watch the show I had a completely neutral opinion and an open mind.

About the fandom iteself, I thought the brony fandom was pretty good. A couple of months later, when I discovered Ponibooru, I started to dislike it, and now I pretty much despise 95% of the bronies out there, which is mostly why I don’t consider myself a “fan”, just a tiny equines aficionado.

MLP FiM is actually the only TV-related thing I watch.
I prefer reading to TV. Ponies, however, have hijacked the time I used to use to read…

What’s a TV?

No, seriously. Canadian programs suck and the news are all the same, Power and Bloody Politics. Never really caught on to Reality/Drama Shows. I pretty much stopped watching TV when YTV stopped airing good anime. The internet assumed its control over me since.
PipMan

I know a lot of people say this, but I’ve become a more relaxed and accepting person than I was before, and I’m much more open-minded now. I wouldn’t go as far as saying I’m a better person now, but my personality has changed over the year-and-a-half I’ve been in this fandom.
CrashSucksMariosaGOD

I only kept rewatching the same old favorite shows, like Ren and Stimpy (especially the episodes from the Games Animation era)
I first knew about the fandom and show at August of 2011, by someone named SegaMario on Youtube (name changed now).
Nope, Ren and Stimpy will always be my favorite, like how it was when I grew up with it
My life is still the same, nothing different.

Heh…Agreed.

I’ve also noticed that the amount of actual quality programming has severely declined over the last couple of decades.

As for “Reality TV”, please don’t get me started on that

Before MLP I was playing the Shin Megami Tensei games. After discovering it I still do the same things except more ponies.
Background Pony #B2DE
I went from not watching TV consistently to pretty much stopping altogether on my own starting in 2009 when I got a computer. I went from watching every interesting cartoon on at the time, to only keeping up with, off the top of my head, Doctor Who and the Shonen Jump Big 3, Ninja Warrior, Attack of the Show, X-Play, Smallville, and Supernatural, as far as the shows I really cared about go. Most of my computer time was split between HALOLZ (stopped checking them so I’d have a backlog on purpose), the Yugioh Abridged forum (started losing interest over a year ago, but still check it weekly), Channel Awesome (varies, depending on if there’s new content interesting to me), ScrewAttack (never kept up with them consistently until their recent return to Youtube, so no change there). Suppose my favorite was YGOTAS’s forum, because I was apart of the forum’s casual conversation thread dilligently for many years.

At first I was pretty much like “so this is a thing now? oh, ok.”. I never stopped watching cartoons anyway, so there no reason for me to be shocked. It’s just the next new big thing to me. Considering it’s so good, the fan following is no shock either, and even less considering I’ve been to anime cons before and after it.

I’ve had a decrease in interest in everything I was following before pone for one reason or another, reasons which would’ve happened anyway. As such, with Pony being the freshest, and not yet finding a way to cripple my daily interest in it since sticking around, it’s currently my top topic to check on the net. I’ve picked up a few replacements for what I’ve dropped, but since I haven’t had a good replacement for school yet, I have more free time than I’d like, with Pony taking up more of it than any other hobbies.

If not FiM, I’d just be spending most of the days online with some other show. I don’t have enough direct interaction with fans to say it’s changed my daily life, not to say that it hasn’t at all. As of this season, I participate in a “Bronies React” that takes fan submissions, and co-head a Facebook page for Bros that also go to my local yearly anime con, but neither have even gotten me any direct feedback yet.
