For some context on cagebooru, there was a period way back when where image thumbnails (for technical reasons) wouldn’t appear immediately on page load but could take half a second to a few seconds, with a blank box image rendered in its stead until it was ready. Cagebooru replaced that blank image with one of a few dozen Nic Cage photos.
 
It was simple and oh so glorious.
