What Are You Listening To

Slade - Nobody’s Fool, Do The Dirty, Get On Up, L.A. Jinx, Scratch My Back and All The World Is A Stage
From the sixth album by the English (From Wolverhampton, Staffordshire) Glam/Hard rock band, “Nobody’s Fools” (1976)
This album, which splits opinions between both fans and critics alike, was a departure from the band’s usual straight-up rollicking, balls-to-the-wall style, showing more diversity in both the styles (incorportating elements of Soul and Funk to name a couple) and lyrics.
(Screaming) Lord Sutch And Heavy Friends - Wailing Sounds, Flashing Lights, Gutty Guitar, Smoke And Fire, Union Jack Car, L-O-N-D-O-N and Brightest Light
From the infamous self-titled 1970 (recorded in 1969) album by the late English (From Hampstead, London) Rock and Roll/Shock rock singer/songrwiter/frontman/perennial parliamentary candidate*, recorded with many big names of the British Rock scene of the time including Jimmy Page and John Bonham (Of Led Zeppelin), Jeff Beck (Of The Yarbirds and the Jeff Beck Group), Noel Redding (Of the Jimi Hendrix Experience) and prominent session keyboardist/pianist Nicky Hopkins (Who recorded with the Rolling Stones among many, many others). Considered “so bad it’s good” and a cult classic among many rock fans, this album is to be admired for its great contributions from the backing musicians and taken in stride for Lord Sutch’s growly and questionably-produced lead vocals, which can at times be quite funny (though I can’t decide whether or not this was intentional).
*Screaming Lord Sutch went on to found the UK political party “The Official Monster Raving Loony Party” in 1982, known for their quintessentially eccentric and satirical approach to British poltics.
An important fixture in early British Rock and Roll through and through, through all his ups and downs, Sutch (Born in 1940 as David Edward Sutch) was perhas the earliest musician in the UK (if not the whole world) to adopt the long hair look, wearing his heard shoulder length in the early 60s in precedence of The Beatles, the Stones and many of their peers.
He sadly died by suicide by hanging, having lived his life with depression, back in 1999.
