Medwyn Goodall - Talisman, Temple Journey, Medicine Woman, Sun Drumming and Healing Resurgence

From “Medicine Woman”, a 1992 CD released by the English (Born in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, currently based in Cornwall) New Age/World/Ambient composer and musician. Very esoteric, with a meditative feel. On this album, Goodall uses traditional South American instruments to convey the concept of the titular Medicine Woman. I picked this CD up today at a local record store in my neighbourhood. You’ll never know what kinds of weird and/or fascinating stuff you might find at small music stores like that!

From “Back To Black”, the 2006 final album (and enduring masterpiece) by the late English (From Southgate, London) Soul/R&B singer/songwriter. An excellent album by a troubled but very talented soul who, despite her personal demons (including drug and alcohol addiction which contributed to her depression and eventually her 2011 death), had an honest and masterful conviction and dedication to her craft. Credit also goes to the genius producer Mark Ronson, the man behind Bruno Mars’ 2014 hit “Uptown Funk”.
