Jim Kirkwood - Eleven Smiths, Helms Deep, Morgoth and Wild Wergs
From the debut album (released on casette) by the British* composer, “Where Shadows Lie” (1990). This album, in addition to being in an electronic ambient style, is an early example of what is known as “Dungeon Synth”, a keyboard-driven music style that soon also became associated with black metal musicians who wanted to venture into non-metal (or partly metal) instrumental projects. A notable and notorious example from later in the 90s is none other than Norwegian former shit-stirrer Varg Vikernes. Dungeon Synth, interesting as it is, is basically the kind of stuff you’d expect geeks to listen to while playing Warhammer. That being said, pretty good stuff right here.
