Pariah - Gerrymander, The Rope, Scapegoat, Foreign Bodies and Promise Of Remembrance
From the debut album by the English (From Newcastle upon Tyne) Thrash/Power metal band, “The Kindred” (1988)
They were a band with very socially and politically charged lyrics, formed as an offshoot of the NWOBHM band Satan upon their intial split-up. Both Pariah and Satan would continue in the following years through different intervals (Although their Pariah outfit ceased in after 1997). The band also featured two members (Graeme English and Steve Ramsey) who would later go on to found the Folk metal band Skyclad in the 90s. Their drummer, Sean Taylor, also played in fellow NWOBHM groups Blitzkrieg, Warrior and Raven. Their singer, Michael Jackson (No, not that Michael Jackson*) also fronted the NWOBHM group Blind Fury, another Satan offshoot (as did most of the other Pariah memebers).
*Wouldn’t it be funny if Michael “Moonwalk” Jackson sung in a metal band though?

Plastic Penny - Your Way To Go, Currency, Caledonian Mission, Baby You’re Not To Blame and Sour Suite
From the second and final album by the British* Psychedelic/Prog rock band, “Currency” (1969)
Fun fact: The band’s keyboardist/singer was the late Paul Raymond, who also played Blues rock with Chicken Shack and Savoy Brown, later going on to play for the Hard rock/Heavy metal bands UFO, Michael Schenker Group and Waysted. Their drummer, Nigel Olsson, was Elton John’s drummer for the latter’s classic early-to-mid 70s period (and is back to playing with him again in the present day)
I also considered including the band’s very nice rendition of Macarthur Park in the picks, but I’m not currently sold, and admittedly (and fervently and non-ironically) prefer the late Irish singer/actor Richard Harris’s hammy Psych pop version from 1968, which was included on some so-called “Worst Songs Of All Time” lists. So sue me :P
*The band were comprised of a few Englishmen with a Scotsman and even an Irishman, and I couldn’t find a specific town/county of origin for this band
