I now understand why the owner of my current apartment wanted to sell it to me so badly. I’m only renting it, because I don’t have money to buy a place like this.
He wants to get rid of the apartment, because it is in so bad shape. Everything’s breaking. Walls have holes in them that have been covered with putty and paint. The electrical wiring is ancient and in poor shape. And so on. The latest issue is that the toilet light switch just fizzled out. Now I need a flashlight in the toilet, until I can get an electrician here to fix it. This whole place needs a serious and thorough renovation. I don’t think anyone has renovated this place in decades (the building is about 50 years old). So not only does he want me to buy it, but also pay for it’s immediate renovations.
Haha, no. I need to live here one year minimum and I’m halfway through it. The moment I can leave, I will. Some other poor soul will have to pay for this dump.
Which is really sad, because this building is in a very good location. The neighborhood is nice. All the shops and services are within 5-10 minutes of walking. I wanted this place to be good. I was wrong and now I have to go through the process of moving again. Moving twice within one year isn’t my idea of good time.
I wonder if I’ll ever find a place I can really call “home”?
