I really hope that this virus thing settles because once this is all over, my entire family is planning a week long vacation sometime in the future, probably back again to Puerto Rico like we did last time.

In all actuality, the new program is just about teaching the origins of mathematical theory beyond Europe, and exploring the Arabic and Chinese roots of math along with the Greek and central European.

It has some fluff about “seeing math in the community” and how math has been used in the past to liberate people. Which, in the loosest sense is true, but sort of pointless.
 
Either way, looking at the actual curriculum, its not as shocking as people are making it out to me. A bit silly, to be sure, but nothing super serious.

Holy shit I just watched the most cancerous video from that NFAC coalition.. thing. About firearms safety. It was painfully terrible and I feel like I just got hit by a pomegranate.

I’m reviewing the proposed code now.
 
It seems to focus on how we have a western-centric view of mathematical discoveries, often forgetting the contributions of other parts of the world. The economic principles of the “gold age” of northern Africa, the Arabic concept of zero and the dawn of arithmetic, the Chinese advent of complex number theory, etc.
 
Along with some fluff about how knowledge and learning, even in math, is the key to being liberated. And how oppressed people throughout history have strived to learn even we told they cannot. “Access to mathematical knowledge itself is an act of liberation.” Which, is true I suppose. A wee bit overly philosophical, but a noble sentiment nonetheless.

Why is it that when you lot decide to bring politics into this thread you come in groups?
