Ah, so it’s just a derogatory term. Gotcha.
The problem is that you have to be knowledgeable about a good chunk of a hero’s story, which can span anywhere from 10 to 80 years worth. They also tend to split that up between many different spin-off series that you have to read in order to understand what’s going on. It alienates new fans who just want something enjoyable to read.
Give One Piece credit. It may have over 1000 chapters, but it’s always made clear what order you need to go in, AND it’s all available within one single source. There is spin-off material, but none of it’s required to understand the story.
