Unpopular opinion time (super alpha no pony edition)

I think Jennifer Lee was still a better writer than Shiro Maekawa.
 
I hear a lot of people calling Jennifer incompetent just because she wrote Frozen, because the plot was childish and nonsense, it had plot holes, there were too many songs, the same nonsense things that many people say.
 
But when I think back to what Shiro Maekawa wrote for the Sonic 2000s games, and I talk about Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic 06, I still have to laugh about it, because I think he’s not a great writer as many say.
 
In fact, to be honest, if he had been the one to write Frozen, the film would have been far more overrated nowadays than it had been.

I don’t think Frozen is overrated. In fact, I think it’s the best animated Disney film I’ve watched in many many years.

I’m sick of people always bitching about Frozen. I get it it’s popular and people like so clearly it’s objectively terrible by default and everyone is stupid for liking it and your tastes in films are oh so superior in every way

There is no need to pretend Pixar’s Soul is good. It just is.

I am sick and tired of Frozen getting hate, especially when it’s not or barely a damsel in distress story.
 
Yes people will think Tangled is better, but, spoiler alert, Rapunzel became a damsel in distress at the end.

I don’t think Frozen’s bad. I think it’s just overrated.
 
It’s one of those movies that have what I like to call the “Crash 1 Effect.” The first time you play/watch/read it, you’re blown away by it, and end up loving it.
 
Each subsequent time you do so, however, you start to notice more and more flaws with it, or just aren’t enjoying it as much.
 
It eventually gets to the point where your opinion becomes “it’s good, but not as good as I remembered it,” or in the worst case scenario, “this game/movie/book sucks!”
 
People who play/watch/read it for the first time years later usually go straight to the last stage.

Agreed.

Honestly Frozen got a lot of hype blowback, so many people called it overrated that I think it’s unpopular to say it’s not overrated now.

I think that people who hate Frozen really want that damsel in distress trope back for Disney Princess films. But that’s unlikely right now.

Pretty sure that outside of snobs, most people don’t like Frozen because of how overhyped it was, especially from Disney itself putting it on everything.

True but still. I thought they want strong independent princesses, but when we get in Frozen it’s a problem now thanks to oversaturation and just want the DiD trope back.

I doubt they want the trope back (at least most of them don’t), just that for the movie to not have been plastered everywhere and the songs played to the point of everyone’s ears bleeding.

I saw the sequel “Birdemic 2 : The Resurrection” and I got to say, it is slightly better than the first movie. It’s the exact same movie as the first one, same structure, story ideas and even scenes, but it does have some things that make it even more absurd like two cavemen, dead bodies who aren’t even dead, meta humor and the best part, no annoying squawking from the birds. That last part was a huge relief since again, I couldn’t stand the cacophony of the birds of the first one. With all that said, I don’t know why it’s listed under the TV Tropes page of “So Bad It’s Horrible”, I actually find this one more so bad it’s good than the first one.

Indeed. They would not shut up about the damned movie for a good 3+ years.

I hope one day there will be a real balanced review of Shrek the Third. All the reviews are so hyperbolic in how bad the movie is, they don’t even talk about the themes that Shrek 3 was trying to explore.
 
Schaffarillas at least complimented Artie and Shreks talk by the fireside with each. So he’s probably the best of the worst of these “reviews”. But I wish he would talk about things like how Shrek and Artie should have developed.
 
I don’t think it’s rhe best movie ever. It’s not as emotionally resonant or epic as Shrek 1 or 2. But there are some things to like about it.
 
I certainly prefer it over Shrek Forever After.

I like Shrek 3. It’s no favorite of mine but I thought it was a decent follow up. I also liked Forever After too.

I don’t really care for nostalgia baits like Doc Ock in the NWH trailer or the entirety of The Force Awakens trailer
 
Give me something to actually look forward to

Trying to equate fantasy races with real-life races is dumb (outside of when the former is meant to equate the latter, in which case feel free to criticize how well or poorly it does that).
