Considering your Voltron example had the character appear in one ep before being killed off, it wasn’t exactly “risky.” Risky would be having him be a recurring character and being a positive and likeable character instead of killing him off as soon as they were able to say that they had a gay character in the show and claim to be LGBT+.

A very popular, reoccurring character who was in a perennial “will they wont they” gay relationship was killed off shortly after making it official.

If people didn’t whine about Bury your Gays, writers would take risks into the character’s fate regardless of being gay or straight, instead of playing it safe and say “let’s not kill off a gay character because it might piss off the fandom” just because the character is LGBTQ+ and not straight and the only way to take risks is if the character is straight.

Considering that the examples you present are all gay, feels like they are being targeted over straight characters. And if they have one or two episodes before being killed off, that they are that trope to a T. The problem isn’t the trope, the trope just points out the problem.

Not even sure why people don’t get this

I will say, as a creative, there are forces at work that are stifling some forms of creative risk taking.
 
But, that trope is not one of them.
 
I’ll not get into it here, as my opinions are somewhat, controversial.

Look guys, the problem is that i don’t know how can an LGBTQ character can be killed off without falling into that trope.

He’s the only human on the team and I just so happened to make him black. And wrote him as a death seeker paladin before I settled on his physical description. I tend to write characters first, define physicality second.
 
Technically the main character is dark skinned as well, but she’s purple. And not coded African, more Celtic.

Yes he is considered one of the most popular characters of the X-Men and he has his own trilogy of solo movies within the X-Men movie universe.
 
The main problem people had is BECUASE since he was that popular amoung fans, Marvel kept trying to push him front and centre in both X-Men and non X-Men related stories for literal decades, and over time eventually people stated to get annoyed at this.
 
Hell it got to the point where MArvel even featured Wolverine on the cover of their comics even when he never actually appears or gets mentioned in them.

I don’t even know why sexualization of fictional characters is such a bad thing. Why is it wrong to depict characters as being sexually active? Unless you’re a Mennonite or something.

Although the difference is that Wolverine kinda started that trend in Superhero Comics while Asshole selfish Protagonists were always the norm in Shounen all the way back to the 70s

I hate how they’ve degraded Goku’s maturity in Super.
