Unpopular opinion time (super alpha no pony edition)

Honestly, many different reviews of the same movie/game is far from a bad thing. I’ve seen three different Mr. Boogedy reviews, and both the style and opinion made each different. One is a guy doing a short video of the movie’s clips and his review over them (he loved it), one two people talking about the movie and showing reverent clips (they hated it), and the last two women riffing the movie and giving their thoughts at the end (they enjoyed it).

Metal is the real indie.

Exactly, the name “indie” doesn’t make any sense. Indie rock and indie music in general has become mainstream and corporate, while a lot of modern metal is usually non-mainstream and independently funded.

Hell, I was hoping that this year would be the year when Spotify started paying artists more, given how notorious Spotify was for not paying artists, and how artists had to make their money off of touring instead, which isn’t feasible during the year of COVID-19.
 
But you know what the Spotify CEO said instead? “DUHHH IF YOU WANNA MAKE MORE MONEY, JUST RELEASE MUSIC MORE FREQUENTLY!”

You say that like it’s not the companies “helping” news outlets select who they hire and that outlets want to stay in the pocket of companies that “help” them.

I kinda hate when an artist needlessly bloats the filesize of an image. It’s all good when the filesize is due to the resolution, the shading, and (most of the time) the detail. But it bugs me when it’s some kind of style choice, like this grainy textured filter they put on the top layer, or if they make it look like they scanned in their sketch on ancient papyrus, or if they make the background an abstract magic-eye puzzle.

All these people saying 2021 will be worse needs to put a sock in it. We don’t know what will happen and we can’t predict the future. It’ll get better or it’ll get worse, we don’t know unless time passes. That and humanity has been through far fucking worse than just one pandemic and social media crap that doesn’t impact the world in the slightest.
