I finished Speaker for the Dead a couple of days ago, which for those who don’t know, is the sequel to Ender’s Game. It’s one of the best books I’ve ever read.
It’s different from the first book, it scales back on the action and takes the character drama, the inner monologues, and the philosophical aspects up a notch. Ender is an adult in this book and feels like more of a grounded character this time around.
For those who have read Ender’s Game, I think what you liked or didn’t like in EG will be a good indicator of whether Speaker for the Dead is for you or not. If you primarily liked the battle school aspect and the strategic battles, you might not like this book that much. If you liked Ender’s Game for the Inner dialogue and the chemistry between characters, you’ll probably love this book.
