It also can make him to be more of a recurring character and a setting, rather than the central character of some stories. You can have like for example an employee of a corrupt megacorp who grew a conscience and now wants his boss dead, summons your character to kill his boss, then tells the moral of the story.
For example in a 20 page issue, you can have your character show up in only 2 pages. The story wouldn’t be about your character; your character’s just gonna be a plot device. That’s actually not bad.
