I know that Starfield came out after Outer Worlds, but I don’t feel like Bethesda was responding to it specifically.

Meanwhile Outer Worlds, being a Fallout In Space, kinda somehow got new ppl playing it for the first time after Starfield, as a Starfield alternative.

Also I was in full denial when I saw Concord and in my mind I was hoping it must have meant another game entirely, maybe a retro game by the same name.

Oh please it was so obvious Starfield was made because of Outer Worlds.
The first original IP Bethesda made in decades just so happens to be a space game right after Obsidian made there’s after Bethesda wouldn’t let them make another Fallout.
It couldn’t be more anymore obvious.

Starfield began development 4 years before the outer worlds came out, and before obsidian even floated the idea of doing another fallout,

I guess Thanatos Omega kinda validated my assumption there; that Starfield isn’t a direct response to Outer Worlds. It just so happened that both Obsidian and Bethesda was developing a space game right about the same time.

A quick look at Starfield’s Wikipedia page confirmed that Todd Howard had been cooking a Fallout in Space ideas for quite some time as far back as the early 2000s, but Starfield only went into development in 2013.

MAYBE you could argue that Bethesda at some point caught wind of a “Fallout in Space” being developed by Obsidian and went to work on their Starfield project as a response.

Now I’m not denying that the Outer Worlds’ release prior to Starfield most likely have influenced Starfield’s development. After all they it wasn’t until 4 years later that Starfield finally got released.

The two movies I saw last night, The Lighthouse and Anora, were two of the best movies I’ve seen in recent memory.

I absolutely adore The Lighthouse. I love how it portrays madness in the face of such an isolated setting. And the movie’s aesthetic is so brilliant in that it gives it an eerily feeling that never lets up. It may legitimately be in my top 10 favorite movies of all time now.

As for Anora, that was interesting because the first 40 minutes were boring as hell. It was like one prolonged sex scene with not much going on. But then sometime after the first 40 minutes, it becomes this Three Stooges-esque heist movie and it becomes for like a straight hour my favorite comedy of the year. And then by the end of the film, in the last 40 or so minutes, you really feel sorry for Ani, the prostitute character. I haven’t felt this bad for a character in a movie in a while.

I would definitely say the last 2/3rds of Anora make the first third worth getting through. As for the movie as a whole, I’d probably put it only behind Exhibiting Forgiveness and Conclave as the best movie I’ve seen this year that came out this year.

I’m just tired of live action remakes in general.

I’ve probably said this before, but there’s no passion behind these projects. They aren’t being made to try and bring these stories to a new audience, and they certainly aren’t being made to offer something new or interesting with the source material. These only exist because A) corperations want a easy way to make a quick buck off of an established IP, and B) executives have no goddamn respect for animation.

Tell me about it. They’re also the one who muck up any IP into a mess by making something suitable for their taste and that taste is like moldy peanut butter and pickle sandwich filled with lunchy cheese.

Definitely more b) than a). I heard tell it’s because just filming live action with a ton of CGI helps to circumvent using union labor. Then there’s also c) Disney is using a loophole in the recent reform to copyright laws in which releasing a remake allows them to reset the clock on it becoming public domain.

Tbh it would really funny if it could copied the aesthetic of the films while adopting the actual novel’s plots

So apparently, there’s an episode from the latter half of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur’s second season that has been shelved and won’t air in any official capacity. Disney themselves have ‘claimed’ that it’s merely been put on hold, but the show’s crew have pretty much confirmed that it won’t see the light of day in any official capacity.

As for anyone wondering why it got banned, well… let’s just say that it paints a very bleak future for the existence of LGBTQ+ content.

Yeah, Disney’s been cracking down on queer rep - trans rep in particular - joining other big companies in retreating from it.

In all honesty I’ve kind of gotten used to these movies existance.

If they made good animated movies in between I wouldnt mind all the live action schlock they push out. I would just think of it like an annoying youtube ad.
