So Penguin Highway was a really weird, but also very nice and somehow entertaining anime movie. However, I expected a little more mystery/sci-fi and less coming-of-age. ;-)

So any example of an actual naturally occurring Male-Only Species isn’t scientifically supported by our current understanding of biology?
 
So technically speaking, male isn’t the default.
 
Female is the default, or at the very least males can’t form in the first place without females.
 
We, alongside all other animals on Earth, only have two genders due to a dice roll in the grand scheme of things as literally every single creature could potentially have been a female only or gender-less species.
 
Now that’s some eye opening stuff.

According to Wikipedia they can impregnate each other with eggs,transmitted orally.

I just did a quick search and found a very sparse list on Wikipedia. I’m sure there was an all male race in a comic I’d read,Wild C.A.T.s I think,or maybe some obscure marvel book…I found stuff that said Hutts of Star Wars reproduce asexually but i Remember reading a book that mentioned Jabba had a mother…

On the subject of single gendered species tropes, I came across this comic which pretty much puts lens on how we view gender:
 

 
Even though Asari may not exactly be women in the way we imagine, it’s safe to say that they’re closer to being female than being outright gender-less.
 
And I find it cringe whenever people accuse the Asari of being just “fan service” when their lore is FAR DEEPER than that.
 
As another user here pointed out, this comic neglects the fact that we never see an Asari that looks remotely masculine.

This may look like a cutesy Yuri romance,but it’s actually a surreal fantasy about a race of plant people.  
They’re all female,but there’s a couple different “types”,and they mate by pollination. Pollinating an “incompatible” mate could be potentially deadly. Oddly,even though they’re all female, they still use the term “daddy” to refer to the one who pollinated the “mommy”.  
Some couples have pollinated each other,so there both mommies and daddies.
