Is just me or there’s apparently a tendency of despicting insane murderous characters with a knife instead of a gun, despite the fact that a gun is far more efficient, has better range and allows you to make a bigger killing spree than a knife.
They are going to kill them, what’s the difference?
Plus, the usual first reaction from people would be run. A knife makes it a edious sprint game that will end in the killer getting relatively easilly arrested. A gun can still kill even if people run and is better at dealing with officers. The only time a knife might work is when they’re dealing with people in an encloseted space.

Yeah, but I remember reading somewhere that people are statistically more fearful of being robbed or held hostage at knifepoint rather than gunpoint, so they might portray psychopaths more often with knives because they’re viewed as a more sinister way of being killed compared to getting shot.
Arguably more sadistic since it tends to take more time to kill someone with a knife than a gunshot. Which means those characters prefer intimidation over efficiency.

Indeed. A psychopathic murderer usually wants to feel more than just whatever their thrill of killing someone is, they get their joy by making their victims suffer and feel as much fear as possible.
My sister is a low functioning psychopath. She’s not a killer obviously, but psychologically she is a very damaged person. She can’t connect with emotions the way you or I can, and she only achieves her perception of joy through seeing other people miserable or beneath her.
Yeah. The thing that I noticed is, the more I learn about psychopaths, the less interesting I find them out. In fiction some are hit-or-miss, but IRL not only those kind of people are disturbing, they also tend to be very predictable and flat; barely having emotions or interests outside of their sick impulses, they often feel more like animals rather than human beings at times.

In my family we don’t really have any specific member that we’ve deliberately cut off. Apparently I have a racist aunt but that’s about it.
