It is said that Khrushchev wanted to learn from the United States and plant corn on a large scale. Regardless of the Soviet Union’s geographical and climatic factors, Khrushchev decided to plant corn throughout the Soviet Union. However, due to the terrible geographical conditions of the Soviet Union (mainly temperature and sunlight), the corn hardly produced “cobs”, and the corruption of state agencies and the purchase of large “cobs” from abroad fooled Khrushchev, and the corn campaign ultimately failed.
