I'm a member of the clergy, and periodically help at hospitals or help the police when dealing with people who are troubled, and … yeah, there's a whole lot of "there isn't anything I can do to help in this situation, but it really hurts that I can't do anything" involved in that.
It might seem trite, but for me, it is always helpful to remember what Mister Rogers said
about those kinds of troubles: Look to the helpers
You're one of Mister Roger's helpers. You may feel like there isn't anything you can do to help, but you are helping. You're why people have hope.
