U2 had a new track and it was rubbish
Music thread
So U2 held a concert on that bigass sphere in Vegas and the inside was incredibly trippy af.Imagine Tool or A7X held a concert in that thing while high. 🤪
Oh, that would be sick. Or hell, if Pink Floyd held a concert there, could you even imagine? Their stage show by the ’70s-’90s was already a visual spectacle.
I wonder what the sound quality is like in that venue. Is there a lot of reverberation, or does the shape prevent reverb?

It says 3D audio.

Then the music definitely speaks to you anywhere, that’s crazy.

I saw on the news tonight. 167,000 speakers.

All it makes me wonder is, what would Owsley have thought if he were still alive?

If put into the hands of someone inexperienced, certainly!

The actual technology allowed for the audio to be heard across a wide range, and all the speakers were turned way down, like to 1 or something. So the end result was apparently a very crisp sound that would be audible but wouldn’t blow your ears out whether you were in the front row or the back!
Owsley was always pursuing the best live concert sound, so that Vegas venue feels like an extension of that.
@TheHappySpaceman
I now genuinely wonder if something like that happened back then where a venue was so loud both the performers and audience suffered permanent hearing damage

I don’t know. The closest I know of is that Pete Townshend of The Who got permanent hearing damage after his performance on the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour.

I’m sure there’s a case of that that never got documented

On this day 21 years ago, American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson reaches number one on the Billboard Hot 100 with “A Moment Like This”, becoming her first number one song. The first ever American Idol winner would soon become a famous celebrity in music, cinema and television and her victory would cement the singing competition into a popular culture staple for the rest of the decade.
Early user ratings of The Dark Side of the Moon (Roger’s Version) aren’t looking good.
Critics seem to be eating it up, though.
Thousand Foot Krutch is back.

Well, Avenged Sevenfold’s Life Is but a Dream… was also like this. Professional critics ate it up while fans were divided (and YouTube critics crapped on it). But unlike LIbaD, I haven’t heard much to actually sell me on this rerecording.

I’m aware there are some exceptions. I’m just saying that usually it’s the consumers and fans in particular who have more broadly favourable views. Then again, they aren’t called “critics” for nothing, I know.

That all being said, Waters’ DSotM re-imagining is a swing and a miss for me too from what I’ve heard.

You are right about that. I can think of far more things that fans loved while critics hated them, than vice versa. But for this one, it’s just dull, unimaginative, and doesn’t use any of the potential it debatably had to begin with.

Agreed - It’s basically about as dire as the man himself.

Why does Black Sabbath behave like the Dio era never happened?

Dio was better than Ozzy imo.
