Certain progressions are better than others, but of course it’s all subjective.

On this day 6 years ago, Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington commited suicide in his home by hanging himself. Fueled by depression and the grief over the suicide of his friend and Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell 2 months earlier, his suicide prompted the band to be placed on an indefinite hiatus. He was 41 years old.

Linkin Park is my favorite rock band. Songs like No More Sorrow, In The End, and New Divide are some of my favorite songs of all time. Chester was very talented and someone we lost way too soon. I hope he found peace in the great beyond.

On this day 24 years ago, the infamous ad disastrous “Woodstock 99” opens in Rome, New York. Staged in a closed air force base, the event would be plagued with problems such as overcapacity, being held during a heat wave, poor scheduling among the performers, overpriced food and drinks, lack of basic amenities, underpaid and overworked staff and poor security. The end result was property damage, looting, arson, littering, cases of heat stroke (Leading to the one death), multiple accounts of sexual assault and rape and an overall feeling of extreme rowdiness. The aftermath lead to the permanent death of the Woodstock name with further revivals getting canceled until the death of the original Woodstock’s organizer, Michael Lang in 2019.

Since you were a kid when that event happened, do you remember any news coverage of it?

Nope. I was only 8, living in Quebec, and was not deeply into music yet at the time. I wasn’t really aware of it until about 7 years later
