Well like what Don’t said, it’s pretty hard to categorize what’s nu metal and what isn’t since those bands you mentioned apparently fall under it despite all of them having their own distinct sounds and styles. It’s like you said, it’s gotten really hated that I think it’s more of a negative slur nowadays than as a category.

Because they weren’t really metal , the majority of their Influences aren’t Metal, they never claimed to be Metal either

Linkin Park’s guitarist said he was trying to copy Refused’s Shape of Punk to come. So you could argue they had a Post Hardcore edge, not metal edge

Well, influence is a pretty fickle thing since there’s a difference between claiming to be influenced by something and actually being influenced by something. You can take inspiration from something, but you can also shake things up and make it into something different or unique to your own style. You can say that they were influenced by post-hardcore and it could be true, but they also had their own take on their sound with rapping and turntables with an electronic sound just like Limp Bizkit, whereas they had more of a hip hop sound and influence to it.

Im not sure why, but the spotify recommendations are.hardly catching my attention nowadays.

I wasn’t saying they are Post Hardcore, more that their guitar style was Influenced by it.

Regardless, it’s safe to say that Linkin Park carved out their path in the music world.

Judging by the comments underneath Dead Kennedy’s Chickenshit Conformist video, it seems the actual message of the song flew over people’s heads
