False. The Monkees did know how to play their instruments and write songs, at least some time into their third album, and actively rebelled against the network that was trying to control them. So the Grammys considered a song written in AI to be considered for an award but thankfully they came back to their senses and recanted that decision. Still, the fact that they were at first doubling down that a fake song written by a computer is eligible for one of the most prestigious awards in all of music is mind boggling and shows how far the Grammys have fallen.
