I’m not really a huge fan of rap and hip-hop music, but that’s perhaps because I tend to value instrumentals over lyrics. I won’t deny that a lot of rappers are really talented wordsmiths, but it’s not something that has a lot of replayability for me unless the music itself does something really interesting.

So you favor more a good beat rather than flow and lyrics in rap?

Flow is nice, but like you, I also think a good beat/intstrumental is just as integral to the sound. Well, of Hip Hop at least. It’s what really draws me in.

I’ve heard of them but only remember the song “Metal on Metal” which wasn’t that good but it’s been a long time and I’d have to listen to them again.

Well, ideally I’d love both good instrumentals and good lyrics. But if I had to choose, I’d go with the former most of the time. Nothing but respect to rappers for their crafts, but the hip-hop that I tend to listen to is the stuff that’s also more musically complex, if that makes any sense?

@Mellow Rhythm
Exactly, yeah. That’s why I tend to like when Gorillaz collaborate with rappers; the rappers handle the lyrics, whileDamon Albarn 2-D, Noodle, Murdoc, and Russel make really interesting instrumentals.

Same.
Gorillaz really reigns in the talents of those rappers while using the music as their springboard. It’s been over 20 years, andDamon 2-D and gang still ace it at those musical harmonics!

Random thought I had while waiting to speak with my insurance company yesterday: I think more call centers should use prog rock for hold music.
Imagine being on hold and they play something like “2112” or “Octavarium.” There’s a chance the song may not even be finished before a representative picks up.

If they did that I wouldn’t want any representatives to pick up until the song is over, but it doesn’t matter and I wouldn’t care once they do. If they played “Thick as a Brick”, I could wait 45 minutes.

Almost seems like a neat idea, but like Starless said, I’d want to hear the whole song uninterrupted. I’d also probably get so into the song that I’d forget while I called in the first place!

So I’ve heard. I’m quite curious as to who the 3rd headliner will be. Amon Amarth have headlined the festival back in 2017 & I saw them there that year & they were awesome.

Speaking of Bloodstock, I was there over the weekend, I only went Saturday & Sunday & it was awesome. I saw Royal Republic, Abbath, Daybreaker, Tribulation, Decapitated, Dead Air, a bit of Sepultura, KK’s Priest (Helloween’ replacement due to Michael’s illness) & Megadeth.

Why the fuck does the piano instrumental from LIBAD sounds like an end credits music from a Hentai series? 😂

What is the song with the highest intro to rest-of-song ratio that you know of? For example, a 5-minute song with a 1-minute intro is 20%. Hard mode: it has to be trying to be an actual song, so it needs to be at least a minute long and have at least two verses.
I’m curious if there’s one that can top “Planet Claire”, by B-52s, at 54.8%. The song is 4 minutes and 36 seconds long, and the first verse doesn’t start until 2:31.

King Crimson’s “The ConstruKction of Light” is 8:40 in length. The vocals don’t start until 5:50. The intro takes up over two-thirds of the song.

That’s a good question way too many but i pick one it has be inner path (To Outer Space) by Blood Incantation and then Terrestria IV Work by Rivers of Nihil it starts with instrumental then kicks on the vocals.
