My best musical subgenre/style discovery this year was "Britfunk", which is literally funk music that originated and developed in the United Kingdom. Very influential and awesome as can be, with bands like (in alphabetical order) Atmosphear, Heatwave, Hi-Tension, Imagination, Linx, and Shakatak. The song "British Hustle" by Atmospheare is considered the crown jewel of the subgenre.
Britfunk really opened the doorway further than ever before for me to the world of Funk!
