Fair enough. Still, when you’re ready to start another run, I suggest skipping 2 and going straight to 3.

I was thinking more the ng+, then 2, but I guess I can do all that on my own spare time.
 
Do I miss out anything important skipping 2, or is it just more DS style game?

If you want to go NG+ first, go ahead, though it’s just a difficulty increase. As for 2, it’s not that good, and tries to one-up 1 in insulting ways rather than add to the series like 3 does, so no, you don’t miss anything important.

I’ve beat it recently, though I was mostly suggesting which game you should go to next in the Souls series.

After reading a couple of guides and watching a few videos I have a pretty good idea what to do in the DS2 no death and no bonfire run. The game is downloading right now so I should be able to attempt the run in a day or two.

I see. Thanks man, I think I’ll go with DS 2 then, maybe after I finish ng__, or maybe straight to DS 2 then leave my ng__ play through with my brother, if it’s possible to get him/me summoned in the same area if we time it all right. And if he decides to play the game first of all.
 
Or I dunno. I guess straight to DS 2 either way. I want to see what all the fuss is about and not have to spoil it first, because honestly I don’t expect any of the other games to hit all the high notes of DS 1 and I’m ok with that if that’s the case.

I always found DS2 to be one of the most unfairly hated games out there. Even though the game is flawed, I honestly had more fun with it than with DS1.

I guess, it’s what I always say, but I have the feeling Meanlucario might’ve meant the steam scores which I did see today. DS 2 being just 2% off DS 1’s positive score, that’s a pretty low margin for how hotly contested its reputation seems to be made out to be.
 
I guess people feel strongly about it, but it doesn’t show any active, deep hatred of it, at least that’s what I’m getting heres probab, which ily how I’ll end up feeling about it. The most I expect is to really like something in it, just one thing that closely hits home to DS 1.  
and then to proceed to bitch about it endlessly, like everyone else, hehehe… :p

I was just having a swing at some of the early parts and breezed through pretty much, undead parish, burg, church, even the depths. The depths though, before I was slogging with gaping maw dragon, but this time I also had the Duo summon BOII!!!!. Stuff’s pretty easy when you got your shit with you, heh.
 
Still, might postpone it after this, it’s a lot of fun, but I am genuine about the DS 2 interest and it would probably help getting faster to DS 3, before the remastered comes along. :p

Here’s the thing, I wanted to go in and enjoy the game, but my first 5 hours of the game haven’t done much to help me get used to the floaty movement of the character, the weird attacking with 1/2 handed axe (as a Bandit), or the rolling, which I read the fucking horseshit that is surrounding it.  
Btw Fuck you From, for nerfing the player’s controls right off the bat, with 2 fucking points in Adaptabilty and fuck that Adaptabilty stat especially!
 
 
I think I’ll finish NG+ in DS 1 for now.

Why did I dream of the chosen undead getting stuck in Gwyndolin’s classroom? Why even a classroom? Why didn’t Gwyndolin let him go? He probably missed his own class.

OK so I’ll start posting my Dark Souls-related stuff in this thread, since nobody seems to care in Video Game General.
 
I’m now to the point where the only boss I have left before Gwyn is the Four Kings… or so I thought. I still need the ring, and to get the ring I need to kill Sif.
 
I don’t want to kill Sif. He’s a brave doggie, as much of a knight as Artorias was. But I guess this is what I have to do now. :<

unless you wanna do the DLC (assuming you haven’t) before Sif, which is up to you.

OK so Artorias is gonna be a problem. I just tried him for the first time, and it took about 5 minutes to get 33% off his life bar. And those flipping sword combos are hitting very hard, even in full Golem gear. I thought my Fury Sword would do me for the rest of the game but shit is he strong.

Hm. How much upgrades do your best weapons have? It may be possible you missed the +11/15 ember, or you went for elemental, which stops scaling with your stats, but if you have anything else +10, It shouldn’t take that long, even if you 1h with shield. Then again, maybe I’m remembering this wrong.
 
 
But if you want more damage to end it fast, you might wanna go 2 handing with rolls, but that depends on how you play. When I want to get faster through a fight, I also use crest shield for its stamina regen and only raise if I really need to block something.
 
 
But anyway, if you got there, that means you killed the Sanctuary Guardian. That one was no pushover either, so I think you could handle it, or if nothing else, a summon wouldn’t hurt.

After watching a few videos, I think I have the right strategy. Wear light gear and 2-hand my weapon, because blocking anything he throws out is almost guaranteed to blow me wide open, or at least drain most of my stamina. So I’m going to roll to my right on all his attacks, because that’s away from his sword arm. It’ll take good timing, but with practice I should be able to do it.
 
Oh, and I don’t have any +15 weapons. My highest is a +10 Estoc, or +4 Quelaag’s Fury Sword if you count boss weapons.
