How do you feel about the upcoming Elder Scrolls Online?

The game will be set a millennium before the events of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and around 800 years before The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, with the Daedric Prince Molag Bal appearing as the main antagonist as he attempts to conquer all of Tamriel.

Most of the continent Tamriel will be playable and the rest will be released as expansion content. You will have the option of choosing either of three parties.

Aldmeri Dominion - composed of the Altmer, Bosmer, and Khajiit.
Daggerfall Covenant - composed of the Bretons, Redguards, and Orcs.
Ebonheart Pact - composed of the Dunmer, Nords, and Argonians.

I’ll probably give it a shot. Unless it has a monthly subscription. Then, I’ll try it when they (inevitably) drop the subscription.

Also, GO ALDMERI DOMINION! WHOO!

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

Though it sounds interesting for having an elder scrolls setting, I’m foreseeing it will end as any other MMO, it will be fun and entertaining as hell the first two weeks, then it’ll get repetitive and boring.

Though I’ve never been a fan of MMOs, that has been my experience with the few MMOs I’ve tried.

Short answer: not gonna buy it unless it’s tremendously good, free to play and even so, I’ll only consider buying it when it’s price has dropped to 15€ or less.

Meh. MMOs are not my thing and the development of Elder Scrolls Online will likely mean more time before the next single player game.

Almalexia and Sotha Sil were able to repel Mehrunes Dagon from Mournhold at the end of the first era and when you consider they could take on a Daedric Prince again, the threat of Molag Bal is lessened.

I can’t believe the Ebonheart Pact. The Dunmer and Nords don’t like each other because of past wars and the Dunmer enslave the Argonians so Argonians hate the Dunmer and the Dunmer view the beast races as well… beasts. I can’t imagine such an alliance working.

It sucks that House Telvanni isn’t involved but Telvanni is very isolationist so I guess that makes sense.

Pretty much this. From what I’ve seen, it doesn’t really seem like a major paradigm shift, rather more of a re-skin of TOR (which in of itself is a ripoff of WoW).

Personally, I’d like more sandbox MMOs like EVE. More on the state of MMOs here
