BUCK con 2016 (Manchester, United Kingdom)

After discussion elsewhere, it seems like a couple of Derpibooruers may be in attendance at this con at the beginning of April, myself included.

Shall we do a Depribooru thing? Meet up? Do lunch?

Even if not, feel free to use this thread to talk to other users going, discuss possibly sharing lifts/ accommodation and other such things with people on the internet who you’ve never met, how could that possibly go wrong?

Sounds like a fun convention and much bigger than the one I went to last year. I think we should do a Derpibooru meet up at the convention.

Had a look at what’s on there. Not sure if any of it really appeals, (aside from the ‘retro gaming’ perhaps) but it’d be worth a look just for the experience.
Fortunately I live pretty close to Manchester, so accommodation wouldn’t really be an issue for me. I could just head home and come back the next day if I felt like going back.

Probably end up visiting the Manchester GW whilst I’m over there. They know of my pony themed army there,as I have taken it in there before. It’s under the food court in the Arndale centre. (Another regular haunt for me when I’m in Manchester).

So, can’t tell there, but can you pay entry at the door?
Don’t trust paying for stuff online.

What next?
Take my pony themed marine army and my Hello Kitty themed army, and do a hobby workshop where people can have a go?
(Considering the ridiculous cost of the models, and the time spent painting them, I doubt I’ll be risking taking them).

If you can pay on the door, I’ll probably fetch my doodles folders.
Again, just so I can prove who I am.

I tried to have a look for you but I can’t see anything that says that you can pay on the door. I might be wrong, though. I will edit this if I find anything.
I looked again and I think they only offer tickets online. I’m really sorry about that.

Might make arrangements to go anyway. Whilst I can’t order/pay for anything online from home, (Internet security’s an issue. My missus has had her bank account hacked twice after buying stuff online through this laptop), I may be able to sort something out at my parent’s house one weekend.
They know I like the show, as I tend to do a lot of my drawing in the conservatory at their house, whilst my daughter does a bit of doodling herself.

(She’s only 6, so nothing special from her yet. Her drawings are just about becoming something recognisable now. More than I can say for my son’s. He’s only 4, so he’s not got past the scribbling stage yet. Give them a few years, and maybe we’ll see something more impressive).

Sorry buddy, we’ve been compiling funds to buy our tickets and haven’t done it yet. I’ve poked around the website and there is no mention of paying on the door. If you shoot them an email I’m sure they’ll confirm it and may even have alternative payment options.

From what i can tell there isn’t currently a limit on the number of tickets that can be bought in a single transaction.
Also we will be selling tickets on the door again this year.

Was pretty quiet here before she started commenting on stuff.

I’m guessing she’s not sure yet because of the commute. No idea where in the UK she resides, so it could be a fair trek for her to go.

How will we recognize each other?
BDD will probably be doing her Adagio cosplay, and she’s got a few pics up already, but that doesn’t help the rest of us. (only seems to be 3 of us going at the sec though, and that’s if Blazing does go).

So you’re going to be the rally point for the meet up then?.

I’ll be fetching my sketch folders, if for no other reason than to prove who I am.

Also, not sure how close the arena is to the Arndale centre, but lunch would probably be easier at the food court there. (Like my KFC…)

Well I will hopefully doing two cosplays, my ‘Mared max: Fury Rodeo” cosplay, which is a little bit of a cheat as it’s not all that pony but I’ll be wearing that because it’s the only cosplay I have finished to date. I’m hoping to also make either a Disqord or big mac and have that ready for the con.

So we’re agreed on KFC for our derpibooru meetup (meatup?) then, where’s the nearest kfc to the con? Checks google maps well it’s over the road and about 500m away, simples squeek.

Three of my group (Including myself) are coming for the full weekend, the fourth is just coming Saturday.

Well, I’ll have work on the Monday, so I’ll just be there on the Saturday too.

I assume that KFC is the food court in the Arndale centre. (need to check the maps myself I guess).

If it is, I know exactly where it is. Regular haunt when I’m in Manchester.

Any idea on a time for meeting, roughly?

Oh, and I won’t be doing cosplay myself. Not my thing.

Tempted to take a few of my pony themed models though, although I would be concerned about them getting damaged or nicked.
