You can find videos on YouTube of actual tuned GT500s destroying McLaren 720s which is impressive.

Why do you think this McLaren can pull away when they go flat out and start at the same speed (meaning it’s not about aero), especially when that particular Mustang has 900 horsepower while the McLaren has 710? It’s the suspension. Poor suspension setup wastes power into spring deformation and chassis deformation. That’s why.

There’s more to tuning a car to be fast than just squeezing horses out of it. Hence why some GT500s can beat a 720s and others can’t.

There are street legal GT500s that can and have still beat the 720s. Not just drag modified versions.

But I do give credit to the work done on those dragster suspensions.

I would give most credit to the huge difference in weight. The carbon fiber McLaren weighs 3,167 pounds. The steel Mustang weighs 4,225 pounds.
