A lot of the spam is utterly ridiculous.
Like, an advertisement for machine parts where delivery is limited to within 25 miles of some town in Afghanistan.
The ad serves no purpose. Almost no one on this site would ever need machine parts within 25 miles of some town in Afghanistan.
If you PAID for that spam, you would be so freaking angry. It's just a waste of everyone's time - even whatever it is that they're advertising.
And a lot of it is for 'escort services'. Mostly in places where, again, very few people here actually are.
But the worse is the stuff for high school and college level essays. All you need is an image tagged with `school` or for someone to be talking in the forums about their assignment for college, and it will get just absolutely carpeted with spam about essay services.
I was wondering if the reason it's ramped up so much in the last week has been because of China's spam network. Apparently those are hitting social media pretty hard.
But, we're just a little fan run art site. I don't know why those would even be aware of this site.
Still, periodically we get some epic-level Epoch Times spam.

Sometimes it is really, really hard. They'll include replies to other people's posts. They'll seem interested in what is happening in the thread. But then hidden in their [random word here link] its an escort service or dog walker service or something like that.
The worse ones are stuff like the swag.mov spammer. I honestly still can't tell if it's a badly written bot, or someone with really challenging issues.
