How do pony askblogs/comic writers get artists to draw for them?

I was going to say this as a comment under a recent image, but didn’t want to get banned so I figured here would probably be better.  
I’ve always wanted to do my own ask blog with my OCs, but the only artist who was ever available and willing to collab with me is no longer in the pony fandom. (They’ve now moved onto furry art and shortly after their “move”, they became inactive.)
 
So, how do y’all do it? Do you just commission them ? Or is there like a secret club on Tumblr you gotta be part of to get artists to do your comics/ask-blog answers?

Most ask blogs are written and drawn by the same person. I know of very few blogs that have separate writers and artists.

Most comics are done by the same person? Maybe I’ve been just looking at the ones that only have separate writers and artists, I thought most if not all had different artists

Usually it’s through connections, like you just know an artist who can’t write and you’re a writer who can’t draw. Then you both just say, “Hey, why don’t we do this thing together”. Because you’re friends, it allows for a more comfortable work environment as well

I’m a bit of both. I can write and draw, but not detailed or very well. Thus why I started this topic. Unfortunately the only person I’ve ever had a chance to do something like this with left the fandom and deleted all their online presence to start anew (they decided to get into anime instead and I haven’t heard from them since they said goodbye)
 
Edit: I previously said furry, but they’ve since moved on to anime.
