You're probably right. My point is that they will probably continue to make art elsewhere, while also saying that they quit art/the fandom every once in a while. However, I've tired of Parlay's shenanigans long ago, plus anyone who does a takedown on Derpi isn't deserving of my respect, so they can fuck right off and the world would be better for it. I unfollowed a few months ago.

Your comparison falls flat. The dynamics of major corporations selling you streaming and volunteer-run boorus hosting art for free are quite different beyond both being online content. I already do save a fair amount of the art that I like in case an artist or site goes dark. It's not really pirating if all (or at least most) of their content is available for free.
