Apologies for not replying sooner, but I have been completely out of the loop with drawing for ages.
(Barely drawn anything in a long time but I just lost the urge to draw).

As for my old 40k crossover comic, if I got my butt in gear there’s 3 new pages close to completed that are not on here. It’s just getting back my motivation that’s the problem.

I just recently painted an anime character on the back of my lad’s Tau Barracuda he’s getting for his birthday. It was a real challenge and left me a little burned out in the art department.
I still have one more character from the Konosuba series I was going to ponify, still haven’t made a start on that either. Might break the drawing stuff out this weekend and do that because it should only take an hour or two to draw start to finish.

Art that focuses on bad feelings is cool.

Too many people think it’s a moral responsibility to make art that feels good.

Art legitimately portraying anything sad must be bad.

It’s an unsung blessing to be able to experience and comprehend negative emotion in art. We cannot appreciate life without negative emotions, can’t feel safe without having felt scared, cannot feel happy without having once been sad.

Some artist are on a whole new level. Art that is unfiltered by social conventions, raw art, that has no obligation to make you feel good. I draw lots of happy art because I’m usually happy when I draw, not because I have to.

I like that random quote I heard online somewhere.
Art that evokes sadness or other negative energy validates those who feel sad.
Art that evokes happiness or positive energy provides a temporary escape.

Both are art and I value them.
Yet sometimes, happy art is actually more painful to look at, because the understanding that it’s unattainable overpowers the escapism it’s supposed to provide.

You know what, on second thought I regret drawing that Hades pic.

I agree. There’s nothing wrong with drawing [Character] sad or [Character] angry! Or even hurt like with a bruise or any injury. It’s better to let the artist tell a story, or use your own imagination on why the character feels that way or what happened to them.

The character has, or likely will be angry, cry or even injured in the show at some point. So why can’t fan artists draw them like that if the show makers can? Doesn’t sound fair to me. Same with OCs, they’re just for fun. I get not knowing them, but why not let yourself get to know them?

Doesn’t only go for MLP, but any fandom in general. Fans need to chill. I love seeing fanart of characters I like. Regardless if they’re so happy, or if they’re having some sort of breakdown

Anyway, I’m creating my first ever anthro OC, a crow named Alice. Unfortunately, I don’t have the skills (or attention span) to learn how to draw one in that style, so until I either commission someone or try to do it myself, here’s a non-anthro version of her that I just drew up.
