Idea came up after seeing someone yawn, then I remember those cartoons where characters would raise their arms up as they get up from bed.
Drawing the interlocking hands was the tougher part.
Also this pic got me slightly excited.

Mama mia. Got you excited, huh. Can’t say I’m surprised. :P

I usually draw the basic shape of the body before adding clothes… assuming I intend to add clothes. Then I figure out the details at the same time as drawing said clothes. Because you know, one’s, ahem, bust will be a different shape if one is wearing a bra and/or shirt. That being said, I still sometimes find myself guilty of not getting the body shape down before drawing the clothes, and messing myself up as a result, so it’s probably still a good idea…

Yeap. I do the boobs on a different layer and like you, I figure the shape out as I put clothes on her.

Drawing boobs is a lot harder than I thought it would be. Boobs don’t have bones nor points of articulation. They are bags of fat attached by some muscles. Its deformation is simultaneously simple to figure out and very tough to draw on paper. You somehow need to make sure the boobs don’t defy gravity (well, you CAN actually, why not.) and keep the same volume throughout.

Like, I created a robot girl recently and was about to go public with her, but then one of my friends pointed out that she looks a lot like Rei from Neon Genesis Evangelion, which I’ve never seen. So now I have to revise her design.

Another character I have is Al, my chick with purple hair, whom people keep mistaking for Noodle from Gorillaz.

Hell, even with my pony OC character, some people have said that she looks like Mina from My Hero Academia.

Why does this keep happening?!

I don’t think I’ve ever had that problem with OCs looking like pre-existing characters… I have an inkling that it may have happened once, but I’m not sure. What I do know, is that I have a fox dude who looks kind of generic, and two dragon girls who look kind of similar to each other. Not sure what I’m doing that you’re not, because that… doesn’t hugely look like Noodle, lol. (EDIT: And that honestly doesn’t look like Mina either, now I’ve looked her up.)

My pony would date her.

Actually, having thought about it, I guess complexity in the design is part of it. The two OCs shown take an elegance-in-simplicity approach to their design, so I guess there’s more of a risk that they’ll bear a resemblance to another character; if they have a relatively small number of defining features then it’s statistically more likely that some other character out there will share some or most of those features.

I’m having trouble focusing on things to…focus on. Can anyone direct me in any one of these directions?

EQG stuff, designing (new or EQG) characters, pony stuff. Safe or NSFW of any of those.

Very vague and broad topics, yes, but I just want a push in any direction so I can focus better.
