How’s progress?
See that one pony labeled “2020 Collab”? That’s about what I got so far. :P
But seriously, so far I’ve been doing a lot of the prep work - sorting and organizing submissions, calculating and testing scales, organizing groups, etc. It’s a lot easier if things are planned out somewhat first before I just start placing ponies all over a canvas.

Does the picture have to be the same size every year?
It doesn’t
have to be, but if I lower the resolution detail gets lost, and if I increase it, resource consumption increases significantly. 18000x12000 has been a good working scale in previous years.
I spent yesterday and today playing with the PSD file from the 2019 collab, duplicating rows up to about 1500 characters, just to determine what size works best overall. Unfortunately, as much as it’s been a funny joke in previous years, this seriously happened:
