It gets deeper.
The student blames me for not given enough feedback because I missed a couple of things when I originally graded one of the sections earlier in the semester.
Things that were clearly on that assignment sheet, discussed in class, and on the final paper assignment sheet. Right there, in the instructions, for every step of this process.
I am your teacher, not your fucking parent. It is not my job to hold your hand and coddle your ass through your classes. These are full grown, over 18 adults. I expect you to read directions, I expect you to take notes, and I expect you to listen to feedback.
If you fail in those regards, then I fail you. Simple as that.
I swear to the gods if I get dragged to a grade inquiry I’m going to be livid.

College Application Essays are the scariest things in the world.
Imagine writing something interesting about yourself. How do I write that shit out?

That’s a shitload
I do firmly believe the odds are stacked against me. I don’t wanna remember the embarrassing/underwhelming/traumatising shit that happened in my childhood, but I don’t want to be insincere about it either.

What level entrance paper we talking here? Undergrad or grad?
I can give you some advice…considering I’ve done this a fuckton of times.

Undergrad.
Getting into college.
Zero relevant extracurricular activities. (took up photography, but planning on Mechanical/Nuclear Engineering)
Relatively recent/slowly accumulative interest.
Didn’t attend any programs (Not to mention Singapore is pretty much no-no on anything nuclear.)

Applying to a US college? Or one in your homeland?
Undergrad applications are easier than grad, as you’re naturally unlikely to have any extensive training anyway. You’re on a more even playing field. While that means you’ve got further to climb up, you’ve got a shorter distance to fall.
Highlight your interests, and drive. They want to see someone who has a goal in mind, and the drive/ability to complete it. Highlight your positive “traits” not necessarily your experiences. Show them you won’t be a one and done drop-out who flunks in his first year. Keep it succinct, don’t draw attention to your faults, and be energetic.

Is it okay for me to write about what is essentially “I did pretty average in school, and thought myself as a pretty insecure person, though deep down I knew I could do better. Now that I got my SAT scores, I definitely want to unfuck my own shit, and this college is a great place to start.”?

My goal: To get a good degree, get a nice job and live a simple life
My drive: I want to have a simple life and I will burn the world if I get any management position
My ability: Literally fucking none except for science shit. Don’t even bring up social ability.
Positive traits: I’ll do my job regardless so long as I get paid good.
Experiences: Nothing because I hate socializing.
Will you flunk out?: I’d die first before that happens.

Someone like you would be an excellent reference to these kind of essays. How did you do it?

Reword it in a more positive way. Like “you found your ambition after years of searching” and that you believe that - insert program her e- is where you want to start your journey.
You gotta spin that shit like a conservative politician that got caught in the bathroom. Make everything sound more positive, but not overly grandiose. Keep it grounded, but show enthusiasm. And most importantly, be sure of yourself and confident (or at least appear to be). The quickest way to get turned down is to appear listless and without drive. Colleges see that as a person who will flounder and drop out, and they don’t want to make the investment on that.

I lie about myself. A lot. And I try to sound confident but not arrogant. I make myself look sophisticated and intelligent, even though I’m pretty stupid. I show them that I can be counted on, even though it’s a pretty risky move.
Basically, I gamble.

This thread makes it pretty clear that I made the right choice by dropping out of college. It requires a drive I can’t tap into long enough and consistently enough to succeed.

I only have two drives.
One is to not disappoint my parents. Another is spite.
I honestly hate the first drive. It makes me feel bad and worthless. And the second drive is why I graduated high school with straight A’s. I did it out of spite.

The choice you made, in my opinion, would be right only if you never had ambition to succeed with a college degree in the first place.
My main drives are pride, money, and having a hand in helping the world advance.
My biggest drawback is the everchanging pie-in-the-sky goals I have in life. Currently I intend to get a Nuclear Engineering degree while taking up Motocross as a hobby. and sometimes the hobby alternates between that and exhibition shooting.
