Vent thread

I need to learn to just say “Fuck em!” when it comes to peoples opinions on some things.
 
I hate letting that possibly effect writing. Some of it is actually valid and good criticism that I do take and it does better my writing.
 
But than there is some I see like today where I am just like “Stop trying to put morality in front of fiction. It’s not fucking real” And I get pissed off.
 
I gotta admit I hate it when people try to put some sort of moral standard on fictional work. It’s fake. It’s not real.
 
Nothing that is happening in said show or comic or book is effecting anything. And it’s not affecting you for looking at it either.
 
This is especially a pet peeve of mine when it’s stuff that happens in real life. Because it’s like. Dude. this shit exists.
 
What do you want me or any other writer to do? Pretend like it doesn’t?

I do understand where they are coming from, though. Fiction, after all, is a powerful tool. It is used quite frequently to affect social change.
 
That being said, one way to stifle that change is to tell artists how to think. It is important that we explore these controversial and risky subjects lest we forget their effects and be left to repeat history.

But no for real yeah I agree. And also too it’d go against artistic freedom to not let or even discourage writers/artists/content creators in general from doing what they want.
 
And I’m someone who is all for artistic freedom.

Unrestricted artistic freedom can have its drawbacks however, too often the auteur artist leads themselves down the path of destruction. John Romero and M.Night Shamamlamalamalamadingdong both come to mind.
 
Ultimately, it’s good to take some feedback, but one must learn to separate the wheat from the chaff.

I will not deny criticism or feedback. Fact I do welcome such things with open arms.
 
I wouldn’t be getting better with my art or even my writing without it. And I highly appreciated it when people give me art or writing pointers. It helps so much.
 
The stuff I’m mainly talking about is just people who act like you aren’t allowed to write or draw certain things.

Ever have one of those moments where you say one thing, someone else says another that has nothing to do with what you’re saying, and you’re left wondering just how they got from point A to point B?

Had a mini-heartattack when the sever for a program I was applying for, whose deadline is tonight, errored out during payment.
 
A quick relog fixed it.

My block suffered a blackout since last hour, thank god the light came back. What a freakish ammount of bugs.

In this day and age. There is just nothing you can do in the dark anymore. Not so scared of the dark, as much as I am being bored to hell.

You don’t need to see to do any of those. Basic proprioception.
 
Also fires provide light. I once started a bonfire, in the dead of night, on a new moon with nothing but the light of some fireflies, a can of kerosene, a few shots of whiskey in my blood, and a horny pyrophilaic wanting to fuck by firelight.

Well, you live in a city/suburb, so it’s not surprising.
 
 
Remember, I live out in the country. Most of my neighbors are wildlife.

Suburb.
 
I cannot stand inner cities. And I have little to no experience with rural areas.
 
The only wildlife in my area are raccoons, squirrels, rats, birds, coyote and the occassional black bear.

I’ve had some experience with rural areas. They’re a snore-fest, usually worse than suburbs.
 
Suburbs do seem to be a good balance between the city and nature.

Just outside right now is a flock of geese, two swans, several ducks, a few foxes (that keep trying to eat the swans), I bet there is a coyot’ or two out there somewhere. Saw a family of deer earlier.
 
We also have coons, polecats, weasels, wolves (the sadly critically endangered red wolf), bobcats, black bears, brown bears, bats, bullfrogs, toads, mountain lions, groundhogs, opossums, two kinds of skunk, and the odd beaver or two.
 
I’ve seen all of those cept a mountain lion, they stick up in the hills.

Speaking of animals
 
Congress wants to roll back the Endangered Species act
 
The act that saved the bald eagle I may add.
