The whole Robin Thicke/Marvin Gaye thing was bad enough, but I do recall that the same happened with Chuck Berry and The Beach Boys back in the 60’s and with George Harrison going against The Chiffons record label in the 70’s which again, who the fuck cares? Everything sounds similar, doesn’t mean that they’re “stealing”

Even back then it was a retarded thing for artists to do. It was retarded when Ray Davis sued Jim Morrison, it was retarded when John Fogerty sued himself for some stupid reason and it was retarded when Joe Satriani sued Coldplay.

The Led Zeppelin case is also BS. It’s literally a descending scale, plus the focus of the two songs’ guitar riffs is totally different, as Jimmy Page added the ascending upper note on top of it. Even with Roger Waters, for as upset as he was with Andrew Lloyd Webber about the whole Echoes/Phantom of the Opera thing (which was also BS), at least he didn’t try to sue ALW.
 
Alright, so it seems like basically, nowadays if your song sounds remotely similar to another song, you can get sued.
 
IMO, the only people who should have any say in the outcome of trials related to music are people who actually know a thing or two about music theory, chord structure, etc. This crap wouldn’t keep happening if they did that.

Typically, I don’t like edgy stuff for the sake of it, but that song is pretty funny for the fact that it’s about depression and committing suicide but it’s set to the most happiest and upbeat tune ever.

The weird prog metal stuff they’ve made since his departure hasn’t been anywhere near as good as the quality we came to expect from them in the ‘80s. Plus, their current lead vocalist, ZP Theart… look, I’mma be honest: The dude can’t sing. The reason he sounded good in DragonForce is because he was backed by good musicians and slathered in a buttload of auto-tune.

To be fair, people’s reactions to Chinese Democracy was likely because it rather infamously took so long to finally get produced and people felt that it ultimately didn’t live up to the hype. That seems to happen with a lot of things.

A lot of people say that they want rock back to the popular again, what I want to be popular again is the upbeat bubblegum pop music of the late 60’s back. We need more songs like Happy Together, Judy In Disguise (With Glasses), All You Need Is Love, Daydream Believer and Build Me Up Buttercup. We NEED a revival of this type of music.

Technically, It’s My Life is more alt rock than glam rock. Also, glam rock died in the late 70’s when new wave, soft rock and arena rock took over. You’re thinking more of glam metal, which isn’t even that either.
