I’m probably gonna get hanged for this, but Stone Temple Pilots is such a disposable band. They were one of the first bands to copy Pearl Jam, which can tell you a lot about the direction of rock from that point on with Scott Weiland’s annoying Eddie Vedder impersonation and the fact that they have a song called "Creep" which I can imagine Thom Yorke walking up to Scott and kicking him in the balls.

@Broken Adam
Where are you hearing this?

Really? People say it all the time
I don’t know why, Serj is more funk/punk than Hip Hop while the rest of the band are mostly heavy metal

Disturbed makes even less sense, they had almost Zero Hip Hip in their songs

Do you have any specific places as to where you’re hearing all that?

Also, nu-metal doesn’t always have to incorporate hip hop into it. Slipknot, Papa Roach and Korn are (or were) considered nu-metal even though they didn’t have hip hop elements to it. It’s the fact that Limp Bizkit had Fred Durst rap and have a turntablist that gave the public the perception that it had to have hip hop too. I agree that System Of A Down aren’t considered nu-metal and I’d add Linkin Park into there, but Disturbed is a harder case.

Youtube reddit etc

Papa Roach and Korn did have rap influence , and Rage against the Machine did Metal with hip Hop influence before Limp ever did and they are pretty much the founders of NuMetal. Slipknot had Corey Taylor. You are right That Not all Numetal Bands had Rap.

Linkin Park was never metal in the first place, I always saw them as alternative Hard Rock with Rap mixed in. Disturbed is more like a radio friendly mix of Alternative and Power Metal

Oh that makes sense that it’d be from there. I don’t go to Reddit and stopped lurking on the music channels so that’s why.

Even though you can argue that Rage Against The Machine helped create nu-metal alongside the Beastie Boys and House Of Pain, I’d be hard pressed to call them that genre specifically. Also even though they had influence doesn’t mean that they specifically had rap in it. Either way, nu-metal isn’t my genre and I would rather listen to other better genres of the time like post-grunge and alt rock.

Oof… Well, if you hate his singing voice, you’re gonna hate Velvet Revolver then, since he was the frontman. Though Velvet Revolver had help from members of Wasted Youth and Guns N’ Roses.

(TBH, I saw Scott’s voice as being more siimlar to Layne Staley of Alice in Chains.)

That song already has faced its share of controversy.

In all fairness, though, that’s from one of the less necessary albums in the band’s career. You only really need Appetite for Destruction and parts of the Use Your Illusion albums to get your share of good Guns material. (And stay away from Chinese Democracy.)

@ILoveMyoozik
I actually find it pretty funny that Velvet Revolver was originally going to have Alter Bridge frontman Myles Kennedy on lead vocals, but he apparently didn’t show up to audition because he was too nervous to sing in front of Slash. (He did eventually become the lead vocalist for Slash’s solo albums, though.)
