Pretty much. I’ve seen people remark/complain that Imagine Dragons is heading that way as well.
 

 
That’s part of the reason why I mentioned it. It may be a serious song, but it’s also fun to listen to. Even heavier songs can still be fun to listen to, like Voodoo by Godsmack. Unfortunately, it seems like much of the music industry has forgotten that rock can be anything other than serious, heavy and depressing. I mean, Weird Al was able to make an excellent speed metal song about a fucking hardware store, making fun and silly songs is perfectly fine.

“Grunge turned all Rock depressing” is such a narrow minded viewpoint. During the 2000s we had Pop Punk getting famous due to Green Day and Blink-182, there was also the whole mainstream Garage Rock and Post-Punk Revival movement with The White Stripes, The Kills, Interpol, Arctic Monkeys etc. theres also Indie Rock which had a large variety of emotions in it. Plus theres a lot of Australian bands that have come up in recent years such as King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard who are making some pretty pysched out hard rock. Theres also the Emo Revival thing thats been going on in the past decade which takes more from the Power Pop/Pop Punk side of 90s Midwest Emo.
 
Also Grunge didnt make it trendy for rock music to be depressive. There were quite a few Post-Punk and Hardcore acts that definitely brought a much less happy sound to Rock and had quite a fair bit of success even with the massive popularity of Hair Metal. Like you had bands like The Cure, The Smiths, Joy Division, Black Flag, Dead Kennedys etc. I guess you could make the point that Grunge had its offshoot with Post-Grunge but even that I still think is pushing it when you consider that misery and hatred have been established emotions in Rock music well before Grunge existed and the things I mentioned before that all came around after Grunge.
 
Also I honestly think Pearl Jam are one of the worst of Grunge. They kinda represent everything that was to come in Post-Grunge, not just in vocals but also in how stripped down their instrumentals sound. Call them moody all you want but ill take the Sludge vibes of Dirt and the Noise Rock vibes of In Utero over the tame boring stuff that Pearl Jam put out. Also theres tons of Grunge bands that arent depressive like theres Melvins, Mudhoney, Tad and many others.

Also Grunge had a lot of optimism in it, it was less about celebrating depression but more about dealing with it and mocking the stuff that caused it.

Unless you’re forgetting that at one point, the anti-smoking campaign Truth had ads that tried to connect to the youth by using dubstep, hashtags, outdated memes and Vine stars.

Ah. I guess it’s because I’ve stopped watching most TV here within the past few years, and really the only time I ever saw any anti-smoking PSAs was at least 10 years ago in Florida (don’t believe I’ve ever seen any here in Alabama).

Well the thing is, Imagine Dragons was never rock to begin with, not even on their debut album. The difference is that their earlier work had more instruments and more of a polished sound while their later work saw them transition to using more computerized and synthesized sounds. Even back in 2012 when I thought they were the greatest band in the world (I was 14 years old), I always knew they weren’t rock at all.

Fair enough, I suppose. Still kinda shows how dumb some of the genre considerations are though, considering the fact that at least Billboard and a few music stations consider(ed) them “rock” (I distinctly remember the local modern-rock station, Rocket 95.1, played Radioactive a few years ago).

Things right now are starting to get homogeneous when it comes to genres because of all the mixing that it’s getting harder and harder deciding what umbrella term a song falls under.

The Pokemon Fandom is gonna get 10 times more Toxic if Gamefreak doesn’t reverse the whole “not every Pokemon is in” thing
 
It would make the Smash community’s Roster discussion look like childs play

I think it is, when you’ve got a fandom so segmented into generation ‘purists’, drastically altering which generations get proper representation in future titles is going to create a lot of clashing amongst fans on which Pokemon ‘deserve’ to get in.
 
Also unpopular opinion: Pokemon’s boring and the spinoffs are better

It’s more so that this game is going to be lacking a bunch of content like being able transfer up every previous pokemon from past gens since gen 3, due to them becoming lazy and rushing out a game every year like it’s COD while their A-team works on their new IP and being too cheap to hire a bigger B team for their cash cow.

You should be happy with what’s given to you. This is taking the franchise is bold new directions and is sorely needed. And you have the gall to complain that you don’t get to transfer something from a game made 15 years ago on completely different hardware

It’s called pruning and its there to make the best game they can. Sorry they’d rather make the game fun and enjoyable than spend so long including some random bird for the 17th time. Just dont but it then. Real fans will support the new direction the franchise goes in. Just look at Ruby and Sapphire for instance

Real fans will call out a company for being lazy and exploiting nostalgic/their own fandom for easy money. And tell me, what are they adding that’s worth not allowing people to transfer their old teams up and removing mega evolutions, a new mechanic that gave old mons the life they needed? It’s certainly not their precious 151 OG mons, since it would require Gamefreak to evolve past their first game, and they aren’t willing to do that.
