@HJSDGCE
Well, their culture is fucked up. I mean aren’t I allowed to look however I want? Hell, not only am I in a rock band–which allows for practically any type of look–but I’m the goddamn drummer and nobody’s going to be looking at me anyway since I’m in the back, so why should I care how I look?
@Kirb
Reminder that a guy in America once got sent to court for having a beard. The reason of being persecuted? The beard is a representation of a non-Christianity religion.
@OptimusPrimevil
Still, the man was really brave. People told him to shave his beard because religion and he was like, “No.” and was adamant till the end.
@Kirb
Everything gets mocked on the internet. ‘S what happens when like-minded people get together and form a granfalloon. See also fedora-shaming.
I’ve had a ’stache and beard for years, got teased for it. Friendly-like, fortunately. The occasional “Oh, did you become a muslim?” one was very original. [/sarcasm]
Also, I think the Golden Raspberry Awards (Razzies) are stupid and pointless. Especially since those voting and nominating don’t have to actually watch the movies and therefore often go based on what’s popular to hate instead of what’s actually the worst.
@Kirb
People come together, find common ground with one another about things they like or dislike. Just when the things they dislike happen to be something you like it can get a bit annoying.
But mocking or disparaging things they don’t understand is a staple of humanity, I believe.
Reminder that back in the 1980’s, they gave the score of John Carpenter’s The Thing the “Worst Score” Razzie, despite the fact that it was done by Ennio Morricone (or however you spell it).
Any ideas for combining the words astronomer and astrologer into one as a profession? I am putting this here because at least some may dislike the idea of me wanting to combine the two or argue they are too different to be one thing.
Edit: Nevermind, found the word Astrologus and it means both an astrologer and astronomer… though the word is technically Latin for the two. Sighs
@Jarkes
Oh, in the very first Razzies Cruising, Dressed to Kill and The Shining were all nominees for Worst Picture. Hell, in 1983 Scarface was nominated for Worst Picture.
Considering that they’re not even required to watch the movies and that literally anyone can vote/nominate, it’s become super predictable. Like if there’s a Michael Bay film, it’s gonna get Worst Picture regardless of how many movies came out that year that were worse.
None of Dan Schneider’s Nickelodeon shows (Drake & Josh, iCarly, Victorious, Sam & Cat, etc.) were ever funny and it continues to baffle me how they had so many fans. They always felt very mean-spirited to me.
